It's a fair point about Ronaldo, and I think it was true for most of his Juventus career too; I don't think they should have wrecked the progress of a player like Dybala over him, but he's still a very good player. You can't tell me that Leicester can win the league with Jamie Vardy scoring 60% of their goals, but United can't possibly do the same with Cristiano Ronaldo taking the glory. When they decide to get a manager who knows what he's doing Ronaldo will be a multiplier.
If you want an even better example of a player who has used the team to level up his individual stats there's one right at United in Bruno.
Ronaldo isn't the problem, the rest of the team is. It'd take a miracle to win a League title with De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Shaw, Maguire, Fred, Mctominay etc. playing significant roles.
If Ronaldo was at City he would be just another player, despite his reputation preceding him, because he's just very good now and no more. He can't do it every game he plays any more, he can't play 50 games a season any more, and more often than not, he can't do it against the very best. And he certainly doesn't do enough to raise that team to title contenders. I would argue Cavani would give the team just as much, or at least it's close.
But, I agree on Fernandes - a "big" fish, small pond player if ever I saw one. I'd be stunned if he could be a success at one of the really big clubs - although, in writing that I'm reminded of just how shit Real and Barca are now! But you get the point.
