Very entertaining game. Enjoyable from a tactical and technical perspective. Old man Mourinho is back in the conversation. Lamal is the joker on Barcelona and Cucurella locked him down admirably.

Real Madrid sans Chincius is a much more effective team/unit. I wonder what would have happened if we had put in half the effort for Diomande as we did for the Brazilian diva.

Special mention to Bellingham's performance. That's one heck of a footballer. His balance on the ball is as good as Zidane's, and he's stronger, faster.

Best midfielder in the world. Madrid was spot on: they didn't need Rodri, they already have a better player.

@Sicario2

Sicario2

JazzG mans still go it

JazzG

Thought you'd like that, He probably was going to go full in the knee slide and remembered his age!

They seem to be finding a system which works, I think Vini Jr's position is not quite as certain as it once was...Though this little break he has from the red card will probably do him well so he can get his head straight.

Sicario2

JazzG shouldn’t get carried away as it is a farmers league 😉

Claudius

I keep hearing that we are behind Barcelona in Europe. They are co-favorites with PSG and Bayern. Based on their limp performances against both Real and PSG - I am unconvinced.

Sicario2

Claudius the two top teams in Europe are Arsenal and PSG imo. Bayern a close third. City and Barca joint 4th.

QuincyAbeyie

Claudius where do you keep hearing this? I've both heard and agreed that we're behind them in regards to our attacking players, but I haven't seen anyone claim their defence or midfield is close to ours.

USArsenal

QuincyAbeyie

Pretty much all the odds makers are saying the same. But all 4 teams are close to each other in terms of odds for the CL.

USArsenal

Honestly, i would say any of those 4 are currently interchangeable as the top teams in Europe. (Arsenal, Bayern, PSG, Barca). Each team has its plusses and minuses. One thing is true though, All the other 3 have a better attack than we do, while we have a superior defense to the rest. And midfield, we're right up there too.

QuincyAbeyie

USArsenal I'd agree with this except I'd put PSG ahead of the other three. They've won two in a row so it's kind of hard not to.

USArsenal

QuincyAbeyie

I would've agree with that until Kvara went down for the season. He was a very major reason for their wins the past 2 seasons.

Claudius

USArsenal they'll bolt on Jr. Kroupi
@QuincyAbeyie, I have heard multiple analysts from places like the Athletic, ESPN etc., constantly mention those 3 teams and exclude us in recent weeks. It grates given our performances last 2 years.

If we want respect, let's earn it.

Let's win one.

Sicario2

-- ageee but Barca and Bayern haven’t won one (with their current squads) and they are in the conversations so why can’t we. Plus we’ve gone one further than Bayern/Barca by actually reaching the final.

awooga83

Yep agree, similar to the league until you deliver you are going to be under valued. Whereas all those teams have delivered so even if they look a bit open they've managed to navigate to a title where as we are unproven. Our record in the knockout is exit to Bayern, psg X2 so when we have had those moments we have been beaten so that informs it. Good team but when it counts lacking something to decisively win those games.

QuincyAbeyie

Klaus they clearly didn't want Rodri to replace Bellingham.

Klaus

No, but they have a better setup without him. Getting the most out of Bellingham > getting the most out of Rodri.

MistaT

Klaus - to me Rodri feels like the kind of player that would only help Bellingham.
