only caught the 2nd half against pool, but White has really gotten comfortable at right back. the overlaps, the angles he finds with his passing and his defending in general have all gone from strength to strength

It's not that usual for young players to come up via loans to Newport and Peterborough these days, but what's consistent about White's career is that he's eventually become important to every club he's ever played for.

He's going to be a pretty good RB in the mould of someone like Ivanovic

I love this kid. It’s what he brings. His combination of playmaking ability and strength out at right back. He’s unpredictable to opponents. Will he be tucked in, reserved wide, more attacking?

Both our fullbacks were excellent. Shoutout to Mikel for getting it spot on with Tomi yesterday. He is the only one who could’ve done that job on Salah. Tomi is great at blocking men on his right side. Salah likes to cut in and shoot or create with his left. The first time they met, Tomi set the tone and that was that.

Between Tomi and Martinelli we neutralized their two most celebrated players yesterday. And that should be celebrated.

This is his biggest strength and it adds incredibly to our fluidity right now. He can assume a position at the edge of the box like he did for Partey's goal against the Spurs or provide width and go around the outside and use his movement and the ball as efficiently. He is a damn good defender too. No one has had any joy against him down the right hand side this season.

It's the mentality as well. Not this "central is my preferred position" or whatever. he just gets on with it, happy to have a chance to contribute, and always gives his all and fully committed. You just love to play with guys like that on your team, and I think there are many with that attitude now.

Ivanovic is a good shout. White did very well - Diaz has been Liverpool's best player this season and he shut him out.

It’s a decent price when benchmarked with other English defenders purchased in the last half decade. Tomi and Gabi cost much less, but that shouldn’t be a black mark against White.

Nah, even now I wouldn't say City paid 50m for Walker a snip too etc.

Saliba for 25m is certainly daylight robbery though
