I liked it, but in the end it doesn't really matter whether we did or didn't like it - it wasn't for our benefit and we only saw a heavily edited version of it. Also worth noting that most of us are 10-20 years older than the average of the squad.
What matters is what the players made of it. And given that as far as I can see the guys were with him even at the lowest times through the season, running and chasing, giving their all, even it didn't work out sometimes - that seems a pretty good indicator to me that it works for them and that for the most part there's good, even extremely good, connection there between squad and manager.
Good to see you back, Ricky.
It's essential that the manager has a connection with the players. No one is going to deny that. But I don't get the merit of it, precisely once a manager loses the dressing room he's a dead man walking. Connecting with the players is a must, not a virtue. Praising Arteta for this is like being happy because your laptop has a screen that works.
OGS had an amazing relationship with his players. That by itself didn't mean that they were going to achieve their objectives. It's the same here, the players can have the faith in the coach but if the coach is a Sunday League Manager what is going to happen is simple, we are going to become a mediocre club, where finishing 8th, 8th and 5th after splashing +250M Eur is seen as 'progress'.
