After the first four episodes, one thing that I thought was interesting was the discrepancy between Arteta's messages in most pre-match meetings to "play our game", or attack, etc., and what we have seen on the pitch often as a "safety first" approach. Other than on one occasion where he was saying to focus on not conceding, he's urging the team to be aggressive, and against City with 10 men he says "we don't want to play like this" when he urges them to defend first and survive.
I wonder if it's Arteta struggling to follow through with how he wants to play and being overly cautious at times (maybe not trusting the team) or the players not listening to the message, etc., but I definitely thought that was something where the message didn't match what we saw often last year. When he started he definitely came with a safety first approach which was needed to some extent, and which did get us an FA Cup combined with Auba's heroics, so maybe just playing it safe. I don't think that bit is a PR thing in the documentary either and wondering what is going on. So will be interesting to see if we can continue with an attacking style this year, now that he has for a large part the players he wanted.
