I guess because the police have formally charged him here whereas the Everton player was (is?) still the subject of a police investigation.

He's dead. 1 count of sexual assault too. Will be surprised if he ever play football again.

Sigurdsson handed himself to the police isn't it to clear his own name?

Love how City suspend Mendy but are about to sign Ronaldo. Just an all around very rapey club.

Apparently the Icelandic FA has been shielding several (at least three) players from sexual misconduct and rape accusations for years, and Sigurdsson is not even among those three

Yesterday, president of the Icelandic FA (Guðni Bergsson, former Tottenham and Bolton player) appeared in an interview with the state TV and discussed allegations that the FA has been silencing violence from men towards women. These allegations first popped up when a secondary school teacher published an article about it on one of the most popular news websites in Iceland two weeks ago. Four days later the FA denied these allegations in an announcement.

The president of the FA said in this interview yesterday that the FA had never received a formal complaint or a report that a particular individual had been found guilty of sexual violence. This really surprised a victim of an unnamed Icelandic international player, as he had admitted to his crime and paid punitive damages. The woman describes how in September 2017 in a Reykjavík pub he had grabbed her crotch and shortly later grabbed her by the throat until someone removed him, with her sustaining marks that lasted two or three weeks. The next day she got an injury certificate and pressed charges.

The investigation seemed to be going very slowly and about 6 months later her father was going to attend a national friendly. When he sees the squad and realizes that the player that assaulted his daughter is in the squad he sends an e-mail to the board members of the Icelandic FA, as well as the President of Iceland. The President of Iceland replied that he had had to talk to the president of the Icelandic FA regarding a different matter, but that he had brought it up to him. The president of the Icelandic FA replies as well (and even before the President of Iceland if I understood it correctly), he replied the same day as the e-mail was sent and said that they took this matter very seriously. He later called her parents a few times and stated that there would be consequences, and there were consequences as the player in question wasn‘t picked to the squad for a while.

Sometime in the process she received a call from an FA lawyer offering her a confidentiality agreement, which she denied. She later received a call from a different lawyer to invite her to a meeting where the player in question wanted to apologize. She went there and he apologized and paid damages, and she says that she doesn’t really have anything against him, their matter is settled. She just wanted to remind the president of the FA that he hadn’t been telling the truth in that interview. The president of the FA now says that his comment yesterday was a mistake.

Sorry about the confusion between the president and the President, but the president of the FA is called Guðni Bergsson and the President of Iceland is called Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, so their names might’ve added to the confusion if anything. And yes, none of this has to do with Gylfi Sigurðsson, that’s yet another chapter to open.

Buendia with a delightdul goal against Brentford.

West Ham's opener against Palace was some truly sexy football.

Funnily two ex-Arsenal captains are leading the sack race at the moment.

Literally any other game is better than watching Arsenal. We completely drain all life, emotion, and intensity out of the sport.

Fun game. Football can be fun.

Palace fight back. Gallagher scores a great little goal. Good match.

We deserve to be bottom. Every other team is more entertaining than us.

Watching the Chelsea and Liverpool game - these teams are playing a different sport to us.

And it has been like this for about 2 seasons now.

4 really strong teams this year.

Chelsea were struggling really badly with the same squad last year, we beat them comfortably and went within 2 points behind them. United were terrible under Mourinho 3 years ago and we finished ahead of them. These teams weren't this far away from us. Now they are 2 full tiers ahead of us while we continue to build a Everton-lite team. Even Leicester and West Ham are one tier ahead of us now in current circumstances.

Its all down to the manager and how he uses his existing resources.

Gonna be war in the tunnel now

That's a ridiculous decision. Clearly accidental and he has no way to get out of the way from that range

Yeah, but fuck him. We should have had a penalty last week from his play and they tell me these things even out over the season.
