I mean the contract is signed. I think the most likely scenario is he moves to the two year "consulting" role without any great authority due to mediocre results as manager, and either gets shelved or paid out.

Best case he sticks around, gets listened to, and creates weird grey areas in the responsibilities of any new manager or technical director, as it seems he'll be neither after summer. Very happy to see him managing like a forgetful professor for as long as it lasts.

I don't know about charlatan but I've always questioned whether these genius technical director types (Sven, Monchi, Ralf) that get deified can replicate the work they do at bigger clubs. There's a lot of reasons why it may not translate and, thus far, no evidence that it does.

I think United are done as far as top four goes, their run in is nightmarish.

Spurs are the big worry. Picking up form, out of Europe and a relatively easy run in. Desperately need Southampton to do us a favour today but they're high pressing style normally leaves them exposed to Tottenham's sucker punches.

United do look done but as people keep saying about us the margins are narrow. Ragnicks still figuring it out and if he manages to make something click there they certainly have the talent to go on a run. If I was a betting man I wouldn't back them for a proper EL place though.

Have you seen their fixture list from March to pretty much the end of the season? Barring a couple of 'easy games', it's nightmarish for them. Would be very impressive if they managed to go on a run with those fixtures.

When Ragnick came in they had a 2 couple of months of very winnable fixtures which they ideally had to win to give themselves a good platform going into that run, but they've been dropping points pretty much every other game.

I've no love for Rangnick, far from it, but some of you lot here are just straight up haters 😆 whenever you see highly rated people abroad you love being critical without any knowledge of why people rate their ability or body of work. Proper weird behaviour

I didn't say anything about proof? I'm not saying they're not very good at what they do or have done, I'm posing the question how successfully it can be applied at a higher level. I think its weird behaviour that you can't question they're suitability to something without their followers getting all defensive.

Rangnick agreed a six month contract with United as manager with this cash-out rollover to consulting.

By force of logic at least one of the parties wasn't keen about it being a long term gig, maybe that's why the United squad is reacting like a bunch of schoolkids messing round the relief teacher.

How is Spurs not behind I will never know. Southampton absolutely whacked them this half and 2 stonewall pen not given. Haven't seen a team so dominant since Barca at Emirates.
