Gerrard confirmed for Villa. I hope he does a great job there then turns into Ole at Liverpool.

Hard to want Gerrard to do well, but I like the multi-layered, inception-style approach to Gerrard and Liverpool failure - so I'll go with it.

That said, I reckon he's going to be rubbish. He was a tactically dodgy footballer, i.e., not very smart; from what I've seen of Rangers it's all pretty basic stuff and they've been handed a number of tactical lessons when I've seen them against nobodies in Europe.

I seen a Villa fan on twitter say they didn't want him because SPL is a 2 horse race and one of the horses only has 3 legs at the moment, pretty accurate.

I wonder if Lampard withdrew from the Norwich job because they shifted their focus to Smith? It's definitely the smarter appointment if you ask me. Norwich under Lampard would have set a record for the GA stat.

I had been pretty positive about Stevie as a manager but the more I've read the less positive I become. Oh well, what do I know. Hope he does a mediocre job, or, as Qwiss says, does well, gets appointed to follow Klopp one day, and stinks.

Either would be fine.

I disliked him pretty intensely as a player and recall him having persistent issues with positioning. Not saying he can't manage, but my hunch is he's not the personality to really step up to the next level.

But I love the idea of a poignant revisitation of that "This does not slip!" energy in a relegation battle. 😃
