Maybe he didn't want to work for the Saudis. At United he'd be taking charge of a squad packed with talent that's looking like the worst coached in league history at the moment. The extent to which they improve could be huge if a new broom with a clue comes in.

Depends on if they let him do his job or if they'll tie one hand behind his back. I think that MU are more likely to make a move to replace OGS whilst they have a genuine option who is interested in the job.

Anyone else think Dean Smith's sacking is harsh? Has done well with Villa and has basically tried to rebuild the squad in the wake of Grealish's departure. Feels to me like he deserved a bit more time.

Definitely harsh. Smith has done very well with Villa on the whole, to sack him the moment they go on a bad run is purely reactive to the sight of the relegation zone. Unless you've got someone better lined up, what's the point? They're a mid table team and are a couple of wins away from being right in there.

Apparently Danish NT manger Kasper Hjulmand is one of the frontrunners to replace Smith.

Any feedback on him from the Scandi gunners here?

I have no idea how he did before but his work with Denmark has been seriously impressive in my opinion. They got good results with Hareide as well but their football is much better and more fluid now.
