Ruben Neves
Please god no
Neves for me is too slow. A slightly more offensive right footed version of Xhaka.
We need to be more physical and agile in the middle, more legs.
Duncan Castles so hopefully nonsense.
He is the right style of cm we should be going for to partner Partney... not really sure if he is good enough
Like for like Xhaka replacement. Decent player but I don't see it raising our level much.
never been impressed with this guy, even in the midst of all those worldies he used to score. too many games seem to drift past him, and he lacks athleticism
Neves is the perfect player for us, what Xhaka was meant to be, finally would replace Arteta.
If it means we are moving to a 4-3-3 which is also why we passed on Buendia, I am all for it if Neves is the deepest in a 3. As a partner to Partey in a 2, I don't see it either.
I fell asleep watching his ten minutes highlight video. Pedro Neto is the fiercest Wolf but maybe not the profile we need
No to Neves, waste of money. We are really screwed as a club as long as these loons are making decisions.
I like him but he's not quite what we need anymore. A more press resistant Xhaka, he'd solve some issues related to Xhaka but still has the same tempo issues.
Go for the young Belgian or play Azeez.
Do this guys knees even bend?

Can you explain why you think his type would suit Partey?
I like Neves but not for Arsenal.
If we want someone to distribute get Ward Prowse
——Partey—Neves—Aouar
Pepe——————————Saka
I think Neves is a really average player whose occasional long-range goals masks his deficiencies. Would be a really underwhelming signing.
Looks like there will be plenty of disgruntled people and negative vibes next season given the players we sign and the ones we missed out on for whatever reason. Mid-table it is then , followed by our best players being targeted. Its not surprising now that Villa are interested in ESR.

Almost anyone we sign who isn’t a Grealish level star would have a ton of detractors. Every fan is a budding DoF. Flobaba will tell you I have my Ligue 1 and Serie A darlings. Jones probably has some Bundesliga players he admires. Etc.
Few years ago he looked very good for his age when he broke through at Porto.
Since then for the past few years he's average at Wolves. Other than occassional long range stunners he have pretty much nothing in his locker that we need. Pass
Better than Xhaka. I'd take him. I just wish he could run.

Any links?
Ironically was reading a report that Villa made Buendia their primary target expressly so they could change to 433.

Waste of time = Villa are already ahead of us on that one as well and have had an initial bid rejected.

Yeah I'd consider him as the DLP in a midfield3 (flat or V),
but not as part of a 2 CM midfield,
and probably not for 34m in a COVID market.
What's his mobility and style compared to the likes of Fernadinho, Rodri, Jorginho?
I don't see this going anywhere unless his fee drops to around 30m = Villa out big us on Buendia at the same price, and we didn't go after Pellegrini, Berge, Kante or Upamechano all at the same price either.

He's slightly more mobile than Fernandinho and Jorginho. Probably the same as Rodri.

And they all play at the base of a midfield 3 in a 433, whereas he plays as part of a double pivot in a 4231, so he's likely better than Xhaka in terms of mobility and capability?
he's more mobile than Xhaka his role in the team means he doesn't actually move much. He's also not as tight in terms of passing stats.
Here's the kicker: Xhaka statistically makes his team better, but Neves makes it worse.
Xhaka's positioning is also excellent in the defensive phase, for which he doesn't get much credit due to his athletic and one on one frailties. Our defensive record is a lot down to his effort in the middle too. Neves doesn't come close in my opinion. It will definitely be a sideways if not backwards move.
Xhaka also has a positive impact in the dressing room.
Like others have said. If you’re getting rid of Xhaka use this to change the dynamic
Xhaka going is lovely but don't like this interest at all. Overall poor start to the window but maintaining trust.
Chukwueze when asked about his toughest opponent “It was (Granit) Xhaka.
“He was man-to-man marking me. He didn’t give me space.
“He was just very close to me, and I couldn’t move an inch.”
Better then Xhaka, but I don't like this.
When the rumours came out that Bissouma wasn't our first choice I was hoping our first choice was someone better, not this guy.
Back then when he was more highly rated vs us.
Really nothing much in his locker. A more glorified Elneny. So many underhit passes too
For 35m there are tons of CM we can sign. Locatelli, Cristante, Pellegrini, Caqueret, Touchuameni, Fofana, Neuhaus, Edson Alvarez, Gravenberch etc etc. Someone who bring vastly different style to Xhaka/Neves mobility issues.

I hope this is just nonsense. Let’s see how it plays out. Monaco bought Tchouameni for £20m. £35m would surely be enough. Another you didn’t mention is Bruno at Lyon.
Wonder if Bruno is one of the players Aulas is talking about when he says that players will be leaving.
Bruno was super heavily linked with us due to Edu connection. That was the moment to sign him. I mean we could still sign him but it's really stupid to miss out on such a gem for a low fee at that time when he was leaving Brazil. Now Lyon is flipping him for double the money. He would be a great fit for us but the one to get is really his midfield partner Caqueret.
This is him in the crucial title decider last month against Lille alongside Bruno. He plays like a young Jack Wilshere, so much in his locker.
Is he (Bruno) really good? Looked like garbage the couple of times I've seen him for Lyon.
