With the Euro 2021 tournament approaching soon and the official squads being unveiled, it is time to start the thread for discussions.

Tournament dates - June 11 thru July 11

Here are the final groups -

Group A - Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, Wales

Group B - Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Russia

Group C - Austria, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Ukraine

Also when thinking about the Arsenal team, an option can be Thuram. He can play both LW and striker. And then ESR is your 10. Just a beast man

Hope Sicario is not upset Arsenal's best striker didn't make the france squad.

The only weakness in the French squad is fullbacks. They used to have insane amount of top class fullbacks, now Dubois is making the squad.

Belgium defence is still very weak. Vermaelen lol

Their full backs aren't that bad, Mendy is injured I think and it's not the worst option to have to play Hernandez and Pavard there.

Biggest weakness for France is their manager. Tolisso has played the full 90 once all season and has played maybe a game and a half since January and still gets nominated. Sissoko and Giroud are beyond a joke, Rabiot has been shit for a minute and Lenglet for a season or two. Given their ridiculous depth there they could've even replaced Varane without a problem. Then Deschamps leaves Nkunku Tchouameni and Upamecano at home who have been much better than their competition

Still insane to think they have Camavinga Kamara Ndicka Aouar Fekir Ikoné Soumaré Konaté Gouiri etc, most of which playing in the U21 which would probably get to the quarter finals at least.

Just realised they called up Lemar over Aouar and Sissoko over Nkunku Tchouameni and Camavinga wtf.

Hernandez and Pavard are probably best as CB for me but yeah still not bad options.

Mendy is a big miss as he can play both RB and LB. Was hoping to see a back 4 of Pavard-Varane-Hernandez-Mendy for France.

Group F looks tasty!!! Reminds me of the one involving the Netherlands, France and Czech Republic at Euro 2000 - probably 3 of the top 5 sides in Europe at the time.

Nothing can beat Group C of 2004. 😆 Especially the 2-2 draw.

Or group A of 2008 for pure drama.

Nowadays group phase are more boring as 3 teams can qualify

Lemar has been decent this season, more of a natural wide midfielder than the others too. Sissoko is better for France than Spurs but still nowhere near Nkunku.

Ferland Mendy is injured I think. Digne over the other much of a muchness neither will play, even if Hernandez is better centrally than as a left back, probably the best centre half altogether, he's better than both wide.

Don't think I've seen this level of depth with any national team ever.

Someone was saying England was better a few months back. It’s ridiculous. I feel bad for the exceptional players who won’t make it, but you have to applaud the folks at INF Clairefontaine have done well

Even though Giroud hasn't been catastrophic for France, having Benz there instead will be a huge upgrade. Wouldn't be surprised if he's left on the bench by Deschamps though. 😆

Aouar’s been shit for Lyon this season. As of this point we dodged a bullet there I reckon. Camavinga is just a kid and competition is intense. Not really surprising they didn’t get called up.

Deschamps always goes for experience over form as well. Although some of his selections are questionable, it’s hard to argue against a manager who has a World Cup trophy to his name.

About time Benzema was allowed to play for France again. Should make things more interesting. It’s been a travesty having a golden generation squad led upfront by Giroud.
