Confirmed by Wheatley now.

Maddison is a terrific player, and more of what I’d like in a No.10 than Odegaard.

Which would raise the question as to why LCFC would consider any sale, and one that would improve a potential direct rival.

They’re a selling club, it’s what they do.

given their solid recruitment history, i don't see why lcfc would be stressed about selling a big player for the right price.

He’s good but streaky and I’d worry about the injury. That said he’d improve us a fair bit

Based on recent links, we could line up like this next season

——————-Leno
Corona—White—Gabriel—Tierney
———-Partey—-Lokonga
—Pepe——Maddison——Saka
————-Aubameyang

Yes and I understand they want to sign Bissouma as potential replacement for Ndidi if he departs.

However the point is not so much about any potential sale, but to whom.  When they sold the likes of Chilwell, Mahrez, Kante etc they sold up to a club above them in the pecking order, whereas the same cannot be said about us atm.  I'd find it strange if they were prepared to do so as we are aiming to finish above them (or should be).

See my answer above regarding who they sell to as being a key factor.

Or

they won't discriminate based on the buyers position in the food chain. of there's 60m on the table they'll take it

IMO it wouldn't fit to spend over 100m on White & Maddison and then to go for youth at CM rather than someone who is 'fit for purpose'.
Don't think Lokonga is a starting player as yet & would prefer to see Sabitzer who reportedly could be available for around the same price,
or perhaps Ward-Prowse if we want to stick to the EPL.
As for CAM I'm still not certain we'd spend 50m+ on Maddison, when the likes of Brandt is reportedly available for less than half.

Yep, they know their place. They can't keep an expensive squad around forever; they're not built to support it.

Didn't think it was expensive to them to put together and their wages wouldn't be substantial at this point until it comes to contract renewals, and I thought Maddison still had a few years left as yet?

maddison has 3 years left, and since their wage budget most likely can't support alot of 26-30 year old established players, it makes sense to sell for big money while a player has alot of years left on their deal

TBH I'd find that surprising unless they had someone even better lined up.

I'd have thought most of their squad would be on their initial contracts from when they first signed, and selling Maguire would have relieved any stress on their wages, let alone they have another season before they need to make any decision re Maddison.

EDIT - there's also been talk that LFC are looking at Tielemans as a replacement for Wijnaldum, so again IMO they have better options that to sell to a more direct rival.

Like Gazza says they can't afford starting to pay big wages. Their model is to buy low and sell high. We'll move ahead of them soon enough anyway because our reputation and means dwarf theirs, so why not sell to us. Finishing 8th is a scandal for Arsenal but it would have been one of the best results to a league season in Leicester's history. Their last couple of seasons are an outlier. Their view is to establish themselves as a top 6 team in the long term so it doesn't really matter who they sell to in the immediate. They'll just make sure that we pay premium fees.

I'm all for finding top young talent regardless of position but good lord, another centre back? Edu can't go and find us a top young full back, midfielder or tricky winger?

In general centre back seems to be a really tricky position to recruit young too.

Yar but if we buy him cheapish and loan him he can either make it here or be sold at a profit. This seems sensible if we get players like this at a good price.

I'm not one who's generally in favour of signing a CF but I'd definitely take Isak.
