I though we were a good chunk better, but if thats true than it's all the more reason to show some caution.

Christ, that Monaco tie was a disaster. Truly woeful.

That being said, I don't see any other option than going out to attack. The plan should be that we need to score two goals and until we do that, we can't start to feel confident of progress to the next round.

I'm not sure I think the managers who find a better balance tend to do better in the cups.

Maybe. But I think the task at hand for Thursday should be pretty clear as far as needing to go out to score two goals.

Nice, I'd start pepe over saka in this one. saka needs a rest and it's the kind of game where pepe can do grand. then we have saka off the bench for 20 minutes/ extra time if needed.

With Auba out, Saka plays. It’s that simple. Arteta can’t afford to lose tomorrow. If he loses with Saka on the bench, the same cats screaming loudest that Saka should sit will be first in line to crucify him

Assuming ESR also starts though, then who gets benched, Pepe or Martinelli? I'd start the former personally.

I think I'd risk Saka here and then rest him in the league. Maybe just play the 3 of them. Have Martinelli off the bench, then he can start again against Fulham.

Against Slavia Prague? Risk Saka? Nah. If we can’t do it without him, especially in the form he has been in recently (not great), while we have a fit and raring Pepe, and in form Laca, and our world class paid striker coming back from his flu, with ESR returning to the midfield... we definitely deserve to be dumped out of the competition.

I kind of want to win no matter if we deserve to be dumped out or not..

I think he meant in regards to the table. If we were still fourth like we used to be and the 9th placed team tried to sign him we'd probably say the same thing about them.
