There is a good discussion on Arseblog about Buendia. Gunnerblog gives a perspective as a football reporter and says he would be very cautious about assuming that Arsenal were seriously interested and even making bids. He walks through how the press is prone to transfer misinformation and thinks this is such a case.
There was very little new or interesting about what he was saying. We know agents lie to journalists to drive stories, we know "a bid" doesn't mean an official all the paper work done bid, we know clubs lie to journalists, etc Jesus we spend half of every window on here trying to parse which journalists and twitter accounts actually have info and which don't. We all watched the demise of Ornsteins sources over the last few years, now he's just a PR outlet for the club (kind of like his Athletic colleagues now too).
TBH the whole thing made James sound a bit wide eyed and naive that he didn't realise this stuff until he was working in it. His belief that other Arsenal focussed writers don't just make stuff up was funny too, you'd know he never worked at a real news paper.
