Least goals for in the top half. So much for good football.

Auba wasted on the wing.

Willian played most of first half of season despite stinking the place out.

Laca got some goals but he's a busted flush. At this stage, he has Giroud's pace with half his strength and aerial ability.

Central midfield is abysmal. Partey unfit while Ceballos nonexistent, Elneny 1-2 decent games all season, Xhaka unreliable as he has been for 5 years.

Central defence consists of a Chelsea reject, A player nobody was willing to buy last summer (Holding) given a new deal, A player who's market value keeps going down but we have no idea what to do with (Chambers), etc.

Time to start Marti up front for a prolonged period, Laca and Auba are just not producing enough so Marti can't do any worse.

Auba is fine. Look at his xG when he plays up top. Just play him up top with the 3 wizards behind or replace one of them with Pépé. It’s just time to retire a few players, namely Lacazette, Willian and Ceballos.

I agree that Auba will be fine eventually, but let me out it this way: People weren't happy with Laca's miss against Slavia. High xG doesn't help you if G doesnt follow.

The difference is throughout his career, Auba has been a very high percentage finisher. Even now in a tough period he is hovering around 20% which is still quite good. It just looks bad versus his peaks.

When I saw Laca get on that ball, I assumed he wouldn’t score. That is my perception of the man and his munchkin cat legs.

It also makes me wonder what Aubameyang and his agent discussed with Arsenal during contract extension negotiations. I can’t believe both sides find themselves in this situation with our best striker on the wing and the bench in crunch time.

Well it's the high percentage striker throughout his career that's useful, so we need from him that this is a funk and not a new permanent state.

I really hope Arteta doesn’t have a soft spot for Aguero. Edu needs to change the perception that Arsenal is a nice retirement home for folks like Aguero, Willian, etc

I think you need Auba up front, but you also need another goalscorer in the attack for sure. You can't have just one guy who's likely to score a goal on the pitch. It's one of the ideas behind persisting with Laca I suppose, but I think both Marty and Pepe have more potential goals in them than he does.

One of my biggest regrets watching us over the last 18 months is that the attack Freddie put out against West Ham, Martinelli-Aubameyang-Pepe, has remained unexplored. You could swap either wide man for Saka too and it would still have a good mix of goals, pace and dribbling ability.

Starting Auba would be playing him on reputation instead of form. After he stinked the house down v West Ham and Liverpool he no way deserved to start the other day.

Why did Lacazette deserve to start by your rationale? He's equally been awful when playing and is not a goalscorer and especially against an opposition who play a high line and your can get at with pace. Something Laca is definitely not designed for.

Laca been in good form on the whole (see West Ham game as an example). Laca been better than Auba this season anyway.

I think we're arguing the wrong thing. It's not auba vs laca, it really comes down to who we're up against. Arteta playing 5d chess while we're arguing about the better or more in form player. Get with the game guys and gals...

Annoying sarcasm aside, arteta is probably playing laca because of his safe hold up game, just like willian and others. Auba is too loose most times.

I think he wasn't picking the team he thought could hurt the opposition personally it's a sign of why I don't really trust him as manager. Far too cautious.

I used to excuse his Willian selections as providing structure, but when a man plays both Lacazette and Willian in the biggest game of the season, there is something fundamentally warped in his approach to the game.
