I have higher expectations from the Arsenal boys though, like Freddie and Thierry. I'd like they think they watch us every week and at the same time be able to use their knowledge of the game to really tell us something we don't know or offer up a unique perspective.

Thierry talking about his experiences in getting his players to pass out the back was the most interesting thing the other night.

I dunno, I think Henry's punditry has been prety good whenever I've seen him. He always seems to answer every question in multiple ways, but that might just be the Frenchman in him. You can tell he ponders questions instead of just handing out soundbites.

Freddie is the one who comes across as the champagne pundit to me though. He's one of the rare ones who not only offers comments and opinions but genuine insight. I'd pay to hear his studio talks.

Freddie the pundit irritates me, laughing along with guys like Evra while they take the piss without really offering a counter. And on any remotely debatable decision sides against us. Case in point he said it wasn't a pen nor did he think Lamela was a red (even Jamie Redknapp did) during the NLD.

With the exception of Wrighty and Keown, I don't know why all the former Arsenal guys are so embarrassed about potentially being seen as having an Arsenal bias.

First time I seen Henry do punditry was at the Euros I think and he was the only one on the panel who had a good knowledge of all the players involved. He's clearly a smart guy who knows his football.

I watched Henry yesterday MNF and he was a lot better than before. He used to waffle a lot but yesterday he was more concise and gave some good insights. He was also articulate and let not forget English is not his first language.

The best ex-Arsenal 'pundit' I have seen is actually Cesc Fabregas. Is clear, good projection and tonality, concise, answers the actual damn questions being asked and offers really good value.

On the question of whether Arteta has turned it around....

I don’t believe he has, but I believe he has done enough to get another season.

The team is clearly more structured, most games this season we have had control, and the only games I thought we were outplayed in, were the City games, Liverpool, and surprisingly Villa. Other than that, we have definitely shown backbone and a clear idea of how we should approach games, which was lacking at the end of Wenger’s reign, and throughout Emery’s.

He deserves more time to see how he can shape the team into the one we all crave.

Probably because they won't get invited if they're biased for us. Also Keown shouldn't be put in the same spot as Wright, yes you can tell he used to play for the club but he slams us plenty and does the same stuff all the others do. Might be that he changed because it's been ages I've seen him do punditry but until about a year ago he was no different

I think Keown is just overly critical of everything. Does it when he talks about other clubs too.

It's Alan Smith that does me in every time. wtf is up with that bloke.

Never considered Smith as one of our own. Never really watched him play for us and he's been a cunt towards us since the 90s. Fuck him

Yeah, Keown is just generally critical and he also has his favorites and biases, but I think it shines through that he's actually a fan whatever you think of him as a pundit.

The less said about Alan Smith the better.

Smith is garbo and definitely doesn't come across as one of our own.

I'd rather listen to that dismal prick Evra than him.

I'm not a necessarily a fan of Smith the pundit but he's certainly a part of Arsenal's history with his involvement in the legendary 89 season title run and scoring the goal to win one of Arsenal's only 2 European trophies so he's always got a place in my Arsenal memory.

As a pundit he's pretty neutral but I never feel he's hostile to Arsenal myself.

True. Smith is absolutely a club legend.

Achieved much more for the club than even the likes of Fabregas, Van Persie or any of the current lot ever did.

The Smudge the player is definitely a club legend, didn't need to see him play to know.

Alan Smith the co-commentator is infuriating. Those who think he's neutral to us possibly don't realise his commentating? He's rarely a studio pundit.

He's the worst. Only slightly worse than Merse. Can't stand listening to either of them. Don't mind Keown as much but Wrighty is the only former Arsenal pundit I feel gets behind us.

No offence mate but as negative and hostile towards the club as you are of course you'll think he's neutral.

He's not hostile, he's too mundane to be hostile. He just calls every decision against us, from stonewall pens to offside calls and everything in between. The worst was when he claimed David Silva was level when City scored against us despite being 3 yards offside.

And to be fair to him, I don't think it's because he's rooting against us, it's probably because he falls into the same 'can't be seen to be biased' trap that plagues every Arsenal pundit out there.

After Wright and Keown, Robbie Savage and Rio fucking Ferdinand are probably next on my list of preferred pundits which tells you all you need to know.

Fuck that, everyone else relishes their club allegiance only our dickheads "can't be seen to be biased". And our support somehow is able to relate to them just because. Imagine the rabid Liverpool inbreds if Carragher Lawro Hansen etc called Salah a diver they'd raze their houses to the ground. If Smith knew that for calling a stonewall pen against us he'd get glassed in the pub he'd think twice about doing it.
