I didn’t really rate Arteta as a player for us.

He came to us post a big injury at Everton. Never was the same player but he was still good and offered a lot to us till about the end of 2013/2014. I still remember his performance at home v Napoli in 2013 in CL - was a top midfielder display. He also bought a lot of street smartness and leadership to a squad/team that was severely lacking that before he arrived.

That spot Leno is in is about to become a problem isn't it. He wont stay beyond this summer and we almost certainly wont get anyone as good as back up.

Them's the breaks, I guess. Ramsdale will have to work on his overall condition to avoid the kind of tweak that's got him out at the moment, especially if we have a busier schedule.

I wonder if you could get him to stay as the cup GK if that included the CL.

I reckon that'd be an attractive offer, if a slightly uncertain one. It's a nice thought as if we do qualify for the Champions League, the objective next season will be first and foremost to cement top four status. One of those good problems to have, but it might trouble some of the players' relative motivation in different competitions.

Ramsdale is young and Leno has done enough to deserve CL games but generally speaking it wouldn't be fair to let one goalie get us there and have to watch the other on Wednesdays when he's never played CL himself. We're not good or established enough to be rotating our GK in the CL anyway.

Turner is more than enough as a backup. In terms of shot keeping he is not inferior to Leno imo.
