Disagree with your post but it's a matter of interpretation, sure.
I date the changes I'm talking about from when Tim Lewis was added to the Board to oversee and subsequently terminate Sanllehi. Yes, there have been a number of changes over the years in the executive layer, but there was some fresh urgency at that point regarding what was going on, and a return to closer oversight from KSE. Why? Well the Kroenkes are capitalists. Their investment was in turmoil and looking like it might languish even worse if left untended.
Likewise, it's clear that to the extent we scouted, we spent last season scouting younger players, and signed six of them for the senior roster in the summer. The somewhat stage-managed project of cultural change also required preparation prior to last summer. Arteta's now been backed to call the shots on issues of man management, loans and recruitment for a while.
In the winter, we made a fairly jaw-dropping bid for Vlahovic, and though the execution was laughable, the player never intended to come here and we had zero plan B, the ambition was creditable and a sign of where we're aiming.
To me the evidence is all there that a reset project of 20 months' duration thus far is underway—as far as anything is clear in football. Yeah, it was hard to spot prior to last summer, but now it's certainly clearer than a lot of the bullshit that gets spun round the club. The public relations rhetoric matches the material actions.
KSE will deserve some credit for that if we qualify for the Champions League, at which point we'll be able to begin to assess their appetite for greater things. My interpretation of their motives tells me they may not, but I believe they see obtaining and sustaining Champions League status as a part of their long term investment strategy with Arsenal.
