Those 2 are good guesses.

I'm sure even the Arsenal "brain trust" would rather wait and see until summer, (what employer wouldn't want to before giving a raise?) but the threat might be genuine and we have no serious options lined up.

And while loads on here may jump for joy, say "good riddance" and wishlist some cool looking Germans with cool looking KPIs - real football professionals who know A LOT more about football than anyone here, really rate this guy. Most of our players - including the ones we like - really rate this guy. That's the end of the conversation really.

Anyways, I hope we make top 4.

😆 I'm looking forward to the actual outcome this season grounding the Arsenal discourse.

This era of "mediocre nothingness" where we all supposedly stare into the void together has us all posting with the handbrake on.

Let's have some league football and I'm hoping to see a return to sprightly performances from a few players even if we continue to struggle. Watching Tomi flounder and be out of sorts against Liverpool was a drag.

Interesting that you see it that way as I heartily disagree. Towards the end with Wenger we were on a downward spiral - the squad was becoming increasingly dysfunctional. Recruitment was just compounding that issue. I have little doubt that under Wenger, the decline would have continued, perhaps at a slower pace but the trajectory was the same. Two further managers then caused some disruption by each trying to land their own agendas but overall, i don't think I get this idea that the squad was fine when Wenger left - plenty of players have left since Wenger that we were all glad to see the back of.

On Arteta, would agree that offering him a new contract is premature. Seems a bit hasty and strategically, it makes far more sense to wait until the end of the season.

They did give the job to Koeman who's the only one even less qualified for a top job so there's definitely a chance.

There are not going to be any serious "big* clubs looking at Arteta right now. The whole other people in football thought he was good well the first question for that would be who are they.

In reality only journalists seem to have pushed that narrative and when it all started they talked like he was exactly in Peps mould but it's clear from his time here that's not true in his style. Which shows that the journalists didn't really have a clue and how on earth could anyone in football make a realistic judgement of someone's ability to manage based on what Arteta had actually done in city.

I'd therefore use that to question the football people's knowledge in the first instance.

Since then we can see the results of his actual management and can make a judgement on that.

Our competition tries their best to fumble CL footy and here we are having scored one goal in all of January.

There's your proof he's just absolutely shit at coaching - the absolute ineptitude to keep some good form going. It's usually just some of our players hitting form mostly by returning from injury (ESR a year ago, Martinelli couple months back) but other than that there's nothing

He has done very well building the XI. We have a more talented side than the one Wenger left us with but we are all also such a poorly coached team. There might be an opportunity cost to this process and it might not be worth it if Arteta's ceiling as a manager is not very high.
