with all the strains that covid has put on the club, that's the only reason I can see for them to stick it out the way they have - they still forsee arsenal becoming a golden goose within the next 5 years.
Right, it would be a huge revenue bonanza locked in, a step change. It would be another shitty development for football, especially in the form pitched most recently, but if it happened I'd rather Arsenal were part of it.
I don't think the ESL will happen for the foreseeable future (largely due to Government intervention and new PL safeguards) but arguably that makes it even more imperative that they invest so that they can actually qualify for the closest thing to the ESL.
PL clubs value are growing, we are growing at a much slower rate than a lot of others but still growing. Hard to know whether they'll be happy enough with growth or worried they are leaving money on the table in potential for bigger growth.

It'll be interesting to see how the politics of it develop but I'd be very surprised if it stays off the horizon for another ten years. The latest proposal was a turkey though.
Well they spent 1bn on a new stadium for the Rams so I don't get the impression that they're just looking for slow growth. And it's not like it's going to really cost them anything, any investment is likely to be financed and paid for by the club.

It will only happen via consensus imo, via UEFA and the PL. The problem is by overplaying their hand they've probably inadvertently slowed that process, UEFA are apparently even considering reversing the changes they agreed to implement due to the ESL clubs. I don't think they will because that would likely just backfire on them.

ESL will stay on the radar so long as we see the likes of Barca, RM & Juve as still being involved and not pulling out as per the EPL clubs. COVID will further strengthen the calls for substantial financial reforms by UEFA to enable the Euro Elite to recover. There have also been reports that FIFA are working with the African Conference to use them as a test bed for setting up their own form of Super League - presumably along similar lines to the Copa and the Sth American season.
I saw an interesting article that pointed out we currently have 2 projects underway at the same time = the squad purge and rebuild, and the second project being the development of the inexperienced management team with Edu and Arteta. The article suggested that we are not prepared/capable of undertaking 2 such projects at the same time, particularly when the 2nd project is also the drivers of the 1st project.
I don't really get why that's interesting Anzac, that analysis is embedded in every second post right here.

Agreed that it has been the gist of the posting, but I don't think it has quite been articulated as being 2 projects, with the managerial development project also driving the squad & culture rebuild project, which also goes towards the lack of leadership / nous by the club/KSE.

More negative press for our dear gaffer. Lumped with Steve Bruce 😆
Thats a bit harsh on Bruce.
Frankly speaking, Bruce has actually done a better job than Arteta when you consider the players they have at their disposal.
Arteta is underperforming in the lowest possible level. These results could also be achieved by any of us. Any premier league manager would perform better than him, quite sure that any championship manager too. We are relying on a complete rookie, is like entrusting a guy to pilot a Boeing737 when he only knows how to drive a car.
Losing 3 games without scoring could obviously be done by anyone.
And breaking all sort of records too. I don't want my team to be managed by a guy with the same capabilities as my neighbor. It is humiliating and really damaging to the club.
It's humiliating, but I'm not so sure it is all that damaging.
We have wasted 70M Eur in two positions that by no means were really priorities for us: CB and GK. Basically we have spent like a guy who squanders more than half his salary on a single saturday night.
It is completely damaging. Stupidity is always damaging.
