Will we even get to play them? I don’t see an open spot for Southampton to play that game.
FA Cup 2020/2021
So we are most likely having to play Southampton and then Wolves away. Wtf, where’s the magic of the cup?!
Jesus, that's awful.
Was anyone really expecting anything different. I can't remember the last time we played lower league opposition in the Cup competitions. It's almost always PL opposition.
I think the past 2 FA cup wins we pretty much got the toughest draw all the way to final
Can't complain about Southampton when United and Liverpool drew eachother. We've got a squad that is twice as good as So'tons. If we play to win the game we'll go through.
I think it was back in 16/17 that we played Sutton & Lincoln. But we also had to play Soton, City and Chelsea.
We lost to Nottingham Forest in the 3rd round in 2018 as the holders didn't we?
Annoying draw.
At least last year we played Leeds and Portsmouth, though neither turned out to be easy games. This year we're likely to face PL opposition all the way through.

It is what it is. We are the FA Cup holders ffs, those teams should be fearing us not the other way round. We are better than both and so is our comparative squads. No excuses not to beat both to be honest. We owe Wolves some revenge for earlier this season as well.

Tell them, Sicario!!
The logic is flawed though. It's not about whether we're better than them, but that we could've had easier draws. You can separate ties into more categories than "easy" and "hard".
And even then it's not as simple as "we are better than them and there are no excuses not to beat" them. Man City are clearly better than us and were last year as we prepared for the semis but we won.
To say it doesn't matter whether we play Southampton/ Wolves rather than Chorley/Doncaster as we are better than both is true but doesn't take into consideration how much easier/harder each would be.
Edit: Kinda like Quincy said.
They shouldn't let PL teams face each other so early in the competition. If we'd had a proper lower league draw to begin with it wouldn't be so annoying now.
City had a load of easy draws last year then they met us and we beat them. Easy runs don't often translate into getting your name on the cup. If we want to win it we need to able for the likes of Soton and Wolves.
It's more about how it affects selection and the impact on surrounding matches for me.

Put it another way, winning these matches could also create momentum.
Losing these matches are also not the end of the world as long as it doesn’t effect our league form. However, imagine losing to a league 2 side? The fall out from that would be unbearable. We saw what happened when we lost to Bradford fucking City in the league cup in 2012/2013, pretty much defined and de-railed our season that year.
If you're a team who's whole season can get detailed because of a cup upset then you had no business thinking you could win anything in the first place Sicario.
The only thing that I care about is getting some exotic teams. Especially big names we haven’t seen in the league since the 90s like a Wednesday, Forest or Rangers. Otherwise, don’t care about the draw. As useless as we have been in the league, the draw doesn’t seem to bother us much in the FA Cup. We just need to turn up and impale the motherfuckers
