Perhaps too early to judge but I'd like to see the share of his appearances over the season lean to front line than midfield. No reason he can't make goals like Freddie or Nasri used to. Really delighted for him. Happiness and joy are key to growth.

Absolute emotion when he scored, the ground exploded, great great feeling for him.

The position he got into to score, is what we need him to develop more. He will score loads getting into those types of positions.

Yep solid fundamentals in movement, which he has in spades. Whats more is the understanding between the two (Saka) in their movements. Its something to capitalize on.

kid is just butter. each touch of the ball, whether it's passing or even just shifting the ball while dribbling, oozes quality. if he adds that ghosted late run into the box as a feature - and that goes for odegaard and saka too - he'll wreak havoc

That late run for the first goal was a beauty, if we can add that to the attack it'll make a world of difference. Honestly the team looked transformed in the first half yesterday—Spurs were having a nightmare in midfield, but even so, just a little play through the centre was like watching a different sport.

It really was - that little burst of 3 paces to get into the space - looks simple but the timing, movement and positioning were top rate.

Yeah, the atmosphere was good, i think after Saka’s goal, the players and fans relaxed a bit 😆

Saka, Tierney etc have a tendency to put in cut backs which no one gets on to, this is where Smith-Rowe can feast.

His acceleration as well really ups the tempo when attacking, if he develops his shot more, he will be really special.

That trio of ESR-Øde-Saka is gonna take this club places. They’re 21, 22 and 20 respectively. They just need a striker now to go with them, or one of Balogun/Martinelli to step up and be that guy.

We need more than ESR doing it though. Odegaard needs to add that to his game or fall back to CM because the AM needs to get into the box regularly and get on the end of those cut backs.

To be fair I've noticed Odegaard get in and around there a few times yesterday. If you watch our goals/attacks you'll usually see him in there. I think he was bang in the middle of the box for the first two.

Agreed fully. Lack of killer instinct is what Odegaard lacks, he needs to be on the end of some of those cut backs as well. Plus when he gets the opportunity, put his laces through the ball.

He passes up some excellent situations to pass the ball.

His touch though is truly magnificent.

Hopefully something clicks with him after a while like it did with Cesc, I think he's still getting used to the league. Needs a bit more muscle too, got knocked off the ball a few times yesterday but he's 22 that physicality will come.

odes composure and technical security provides important connective tissue. this is why I was so adamant that saka and esr just wasn't enough. theres a world of difference having 3 technical pass and move players on the pitch instead of just 2. those three adding more goals to their game would make them my 1st choice creative unit, with nico as the wild card

Absolutely. I also noticed Odegaard triggering the press yesterday quite a few times, although he didn't much support, so something to work on in terms of co-ordination. Hopefully he can be coached to work on both the press as well as the getting-in-the-box aspect of his game over the next couple of years. I had honestly forgotten what it felt like to have a few promising youngsters in the team. Hope this crop doesn't stagnate.

His pressing is great, and I noticed it often triggered Auba who it doesn't always come naturally to. Generally speaking he seems super switched on and focused during games.

I think that's why he stays on. He's far from perfect but generally he doesn’t get complacent and keeps his head cool. Last years match where we won against Tottenham almost everyone seemed to just shut off towards the end except from him.

I actually don't care about his end product as long as he keeps strutting his stuffs and being the best foil for our 2 wide man. Yesterday there were countless of times he has ridiculously great touches to start attacks or keep play going fast.

The team needs him to add end product but I'm pretty sure it will come, he gets into good areas too often for it not to. Reckon he'll end up getting Bobby Pires type numbers.
