Willock really good. I liked Nelson too. Didn't always come off but you can appreciate his vision of the game regardless.

Interesting to see how high our centre mids are pushing in this game. Elneny and especially Willock constantly pushing up into the box and generally positioned very high up the pitch. Hopefully Party and Cellabos are given similar freedom in certain home games.

If we ever play a midfield 3, willock should be one of them. He's the only one that breaks forward to join the strikers in a meaningful way. I'm not sure arteta wants that trait in his team though

Also possible that he thinks Willock isn't, or didn't used to be, ready, and just hasn't had any other options for playing that way until we signed Partey. Arteta played a lot with Ramsey operating a similar role in what was our best midfield in a decade or so.

Willock's strike is something else though. He really is a Mini Ramsey.

Pep has played with sort of player too. Find it hard to believe Arteta wants to keep playing with that big hole in his attack long term.

If so then he needs to get his attacking players and patterns sorted, and he may need to continue to compromise until he has the players in both midfield and attack to enable him to play as he wants.

While Xhaka is currently a better player than Willock I agree that the latter is much more of the player type we need, so would love nothing more than for him to come good.
