Agreed. Important to have perspective.

This was a real first test for Gabriel and he looked v good.

Still tbh there were plenty of positives from this game and the only reason we haven't got points was wastefulness both in taking shots and with the final ball.

I see positives in this side aside from Luiz and whilst it's disappointing to have lost two games, both defeats came in the two most difficult fixtures of the season.

We had the chance to level it but missed two crucial chances. Shit happens.

games like this are a good reminder why i didn't like certain players in the past and that regardless of whatever good vibes are coming out of the club under arteta that these are the same players that finished mid-table and it wasn't all emery.

We still lack ability to get the ball quickly to attack. We have all kinds of build up blockages we have created for ourselves. Aubameyang has little link up play in traffic, so he’s not very useful on the left when he’s not on the shoulder. And credit to Pep for muzzling him with Walker.

And then down the center, we aren’t getting enough punchy direct passes and runs from our two central midfielders. At least one of them needs to be dropped next game.

Yea, it was clear before that we needed things to go our way to get something out of these kind of games.

We couldn't take our chances, it happens.

Just need to keep building, integrating the likes of Gabriel, Partey and even Pepe(still) in the team. And then gradually replacing the likes of Lacazette with better quality players.

Our players are no where near City's level, despite that we were in the game for most of it and could have nicked it. First half performance was decent, second half was dire.

The saddest thing is this is probably the best performance we've had away to City since Pep joined them.

IMO the only positive and a change of sorts is a total discipline of entire team. However at the same time we lost creativity and flair, I am not too sure if it is a good trade. What additionally made watching the game joyless for me is my strong preference to play Auba up front, especially in the front three we used today. Also watching two uninspired CM's for nearly entire match was meh. At least we were somewhat competitive today, I guess.

Luiz ate them alive in every 50:50, he understands.

We beat thdn for intensity previously but I'd say we matched them today. They've more talent players so that wasn't enough. But overall we did well. Tierney really struggled. If auba was a little more committed it looked like he could ahve got to one of those early 50:50s with walker and took thr tackle and got him a yellow. Maybe it just been the angle but it seem like he wanted none of it.

We don't put enough players close together to facilitate combinations. Distances are too big which means we dwell and we dwell. Low percentage possession and chance creation.

The trade off is that previous years the game would be over at half time whereas now we stay within touching distance for the entire game. It's shit to watch at this time but it's a reasonable trade off assuming it's a pathway to something better.

By the way, I think its time to say this.

Since the first game against Fulham, Willian looks like what I was worried about. Slow, unagile, touches always off and pretty much pointless in most games for us.

Ok performance. Think we need to badly work on how we build attacks. Spaces are too big when we go further forward. We need to play with a CAM.

Yeah he looks the part for them. Even more stable and know how then Laporte.
