Speaking of Romano = says the priority was to move out Ozil, Sokratis, Saliba & Kolasinac & now having done so we can look at bringing in a quality midfielder = watch this space (perhaps).

That said IMO if we haven't already got someone lined up and ready to go, then it will be difficult to do so with little time remaining for the other club to take action to replace anyone.

Areta now says we're potentially in the market for a left footed left back. If so we'd be better off loaning AMN out for six months. What is the point of keeping these guys around to sit outside the match day squad most weeks only to lose value?

Yeah, I read that. Seems a really odd thing to be doing if they're seriously considering that. AMN's future is looking even more vulnerable - probably should have sold him in the summer when the hype was there.

Wonder if it makes sense to get a cheap old guy here to cover. Someone like Marcelo? Or maybe we are scarred by Lichsteiner. Don't really make sense to get a young guy here as backup given that Tierney is relatively young too.

I think he's basically means our left back cover at the moment is AMN and Cedric, both of whom are right footed, hence we need a left footed left back.

I think we should go for someone who's already in Premier League if we have to buy. Enda Stevens has been good for years now, is about 30, and he plays for a hopeless Sheffield that are basically already relegated. He'd be my pick for a backup. I'm sure they would sell him for a reasonable fee. van Aanholt at Crystal Palace is another player I like. He's also around 30 I think. I reckon we could have either of them for 5-10 million.

Yep. Van Aanholt is a good shout.

Otherwise players like Jetro Willems, Jordan Amavi would be decent backups with English league experience. Won't cost more than 10m

Van Aanholt would be a lot more than 5-10 mill. Probably around 20-25 mill, unless he's on an expiring contract.

He's not, he has three years left, but he has started to lose his place to Tyrick Mitchell. I think van Aanholt earns pretty well for a Palace player so they might want to get him off the wage bill since he's 30.

Difficult to predict, but there have been a several ridiculous transfer fees this season.

Seen someone on twitter suggest we're after Bertrand who's contract expires next summer. Again I don't think that would be a bad deal at all, home grown, gets forward well and decent defensively. Just don't give him a 4 year deal...
