I would say that Schalke are the German Newcastle or even Leeds United (prior to the current ownership regime).

Go read up our comments on November. That sounds the exact description of us πŸ˜†

I know we've been bad, but being compared with that shitshow is way too harsh even on Arsenal πŸ˜†

I'd agree they're more like the german Newcastle. Or maybe Southampton, considering their academy is really good.

Speaking of Schalke, they lost 5-0 today with Mustafi scoring and assisting for Wolfsburg and Kolasinac, who hilariously is actually their captain, making a horrible mistake before another goal as well. Unbelievable that those two played for Arsenal as long as they did.

Kurt, what are your thoughts on Wolfsburg ?

They are quietly having a very good season under Glassner and will most likely end up qualifying for champions league next season.

They're the most consistent side in the Bundesliga this season, probably owed to the fact that they don't have to play Europa League. They're basically playing the same starting 11 every week and it's paying off. Glasner has done a great job of making them incredibly solid defensively and I think Arnold and Schlager are underrated in midfield. I don't think much of their attacking players in general, but you have to say that Weghorst is perfect for the way they play and Ridle Baku was a really smart signing, he's been brillant and is probably their most talented player. Would love to sign him as a RB.

So yeah, Glasner has built a well constructed team with smart signings that plays effective football and their consistency will probably lead them into CL next season, as Leverkusen, Dortmund and Gladbach, who all have a better squad on paper, drop way too many points against weaker teams.

Still a shit nothing club though πŸ˜†

I like Mbabu as well. Much improved player from his Newcastle days.

Their young French CB, Lacroix, has also caught my eye.

Arnold is very good and under rated like you said. In my eyes, one of most consistent set piece takers in Bundesliga.

They're playing some seriously soul destroying football

Bayern a man down but subsequently scored and is winning 4-0 against Stuttgart. Ridiculous game

Not really a direct contest, but nothing much Mav could do for most of the goals. Bayern is just very angry and attacking like mad after the red card

Huge result for jones. 2-1 win vs Dortmund.

Silva looks a solid striker.

And that's with Frankfurt spending just 10m and selling for 16m last summer, even the wage bill is significantly lower than last season. I guess it is somehow possible to coach a team into a great attacking outfit without a massive chequebook.

Big blow for Frankfurt as head coach Adi Hutter has announced that he will leave the club at the end of the season after activating the walk-out clause in his contract.

I wonder how this will affect Frankfurt on the field who are in red hot form and gunning for the champions league spot.

It is all but confirmed that Hutter has decided to take over at Monchengladbach for the upcoming season.

That is a pretty side way move isn't it?

It's been official now for a minute and was leaked yesterday already. Ridiculous decision by him to move from a club close to tying up CL to one who might play in the Conference league, worse still after categorically stating he'd be staying little over a month ago. Not made any easier by the head of football stating two months ago he'd be leaving for Berlin who face the drop πŸ˜†

Absurd state of affairs in the league right now. Rose leaves for Dortmund and from his announcement causes his current club's form to implode dropping to 8th from 2nd. Gladbach replaces him with HΓΌtter who's universally regarded as the better coach, who himself joins from a team sitting seven points ahead of Dortmund in a CL spot. And Frankfurt are now linked with Rangnick who's better than both πŸ˜†

Might be more names to add to the managerial merry go around by the end of the season.

Its looking almost certain that Hansi Flick will resign at the end of the season to take over the National team job.

His spat with sporting director, Salimhamdzic, is getting more and more public every day.

Bayern's replacement will very likely be Julian Nagelsman.

Frankfurt interested in Rangnick as manager - technical director

Hansi Flick publicly making it clear after Bayern's 3-2 win at Wolfsburg that he wants to resign at the end of the season.

Also to add to the managerial merry go around, Oliver Glassner is rumored to have resigned at Wolfsburg and will take over at RB Salzburg.

Has there ever been a top flight season, when 5 of the top 6 club are starting their seasons with new managers in charge?

Jesse March going to Leipzig then. Interesting.

Wow. It’s all change in Bundesliga. Exciting times. Especially for Frankfurt
