I'm comfortable we have enough to get past them even with a weak starting eleven. Leicester are a bit overrated. I don't imagine they're in for a season anywhere near as good as the last one.
Iβm not particularly happy either. The game should be in the last week that we have players who can be traded out to the Championship, so maybe we still have some kids who can be sent out on loan. I would have Saka, Saliba and the other benchwarmers in this game. Really not interested in the Pep Guardiola cup
Just play the kids like we did last year. Was probably my favourite game of the season despite the result.
How bad was Emi in that game btw
Agreed. All my favourite CC games over the years have been the ones with the kids. Once Wenger stopped playing the youth players in the CC I pretty much stopped caring about it. Not like the CC was anything I ever really cared about, just used to always hope to see some promising youth and hope they succeeded.
Don't think there was much Martinez could have done for most of the goals tbh other than the Origi shot he got his hand onto. The 5th goal also kind of went under him but it's not a big mistake.
By the way some of those Ozil contributions were class. The pass into Saka for the 1st goal by Torreira, the little flick to put Saka through for our 3rd, and the pullback from almost behind the goal for AMN's goal. These kinds of contributions make you wonder how much more of a difference he could have been for us if he was actually bothered 90% of the time.
I was reading in the other thread about what's caused this and though I never really thought about it previously but it does seem that the whole Germany NT debacle has destroyed his motivation.
That's the sort of games people used to blame Martinez unfairly. I remember earlier on everyone just pre-emptively judged him without giving him the benefit of doubt, goals that weren't even his fault became his.
4th goal he might eb able to do better but also harsh to blame him, well taken shot. 5th goal he had totally no chance, vision got blocked by Mustafi and the shot was taken from close range. The rest none of his problem.
I so don't miss Emery. It's so typical we blow 2 goal lead twice in that game. So many free shots against us
Looking at the games tonight and I think there's a decent chance that Lincoln City could do Liverpool and cause an early upset, especially if the scousers turn up with a nonsense team. Lincoln have won their last five games in style and are topping League One, and they're playing at home. Asian handicap +2 on Lincoln is almost twice the money which is way too good. Might be a worthwhile bet depending on Liverpool's starting eleven.
Make your bet. When we faced them last year, the best players they sent out were Gomez, Milner, Ox, Keita, Origi and Lallana.
It's funny how somehow a squad with those players somehow ended up being called their kids team that had somehow embarrassed Arsenal. We should've beaten them, but narrative is what you make it.
They'll probably field Brewster this time too which is hilarious. Bloke has two feet pointing backwards. If he scores tonight the scousers will of course insist that he's a generational talent.
