Xhaka and Mustafi definitely had a supposed higher pedigree when they came.
My concern with Xhaka is that he's looked the most consistent I've seen him at anytime under Arteta than those years under Wenger. Now wether even this consistent version is good enough is another question.
I don't have time to find the reports but we essentially ended up overpaying for Mustafi as we dragged the deal till mid-august and Valencia would only sell for a bigger fee as they had very little time left in the market. Earlier he was going to sign for around 25m.
The entire transfer spend in the last 4-5 years under Wenger bar 1-2 players was disastrous.
