Interesting. 3 new coaches.

Andreas Georgson - we already know about from Brentford. He's the set piece coach.
Carlos Cuesta is from Juve. He's been the U17 assistant coach.
The third guy is Miguel Molina. He's super young, from Atletico Madrid. He met Mikel at City on an externship with Guardiola and the two developed a good connection there. He's what I think we will see more of, someone who trained as a coach from an early age (18 ). More about him

That's an interesting choice. I doubt he's just a setpiece specialist though, contrary to what's being reported. He worked at Malmö FF for 14 years before going to Brentford in 2019 and was responsible for their youth football. He's probably a straight up replacement for Freddie at Arsenal, someone who'll act as the connecting node between the U23 and the first team and focus on individuals in training. That's his profile. He was assistant manager in Malmö for a few years at the end too and is heavily experienced despite only being in his late 30s, but I've never heard anyone say he's got any expert knowledge about setpieces in particular.

Maybe he remodelled himself while at Brentford. Arteta studied set-pieces when he took his badges, so he must've been embarrassed by some of the goals we conceded during his time. Even if Andreas is a generalist, we can do with a guy whose only focus is to help us concede fewer of these goals and to take better set pieces and throw-ins. Could be the difference between Europa and Champions League.

It's possible he remodelled himself at Brentford, but I think it's more likely that setpieces were just one of several things he worked with over there. It will probably be the same at Arsenal. He has significant knowledge when it comes to youth football structures and bringing through homegrown talent, which fits with our ambition to mine Hale End for talent over the next decade. He's a good coach at any rate by reputation.

That's good to know. Especially helpful when we have so many young players transitioning. Moves like this give me the comfort that the era of JRA and Gnabry will not be repeated. We will get a better yield from the current crop of kiddies

Arsenal agree deal with PSG medic

The Athletic reported in June that Arsenal were working on a deal to recruit Brazilian medic Bruno Mazziotti from Paris Saint-Germain and it can now be revealed an agreement has been reached.

Mazziotti will join once the terms of his exit from PSG have been finalised, having left the French champions after their run to last season’s Champions League final. The 42-year-old arrives at Arsenal after head of physiotherapy Chris Morgan moved to Liverpool. It is not clear what job title Mazziotti is to take but he will work alongside head of medical Gary O’Driscoll.

Mazziotti has a close relationship with Arsenal’s technical director Edu after the pair worked together at top Brazilian club Corinthians and the Brazil national team.

Remember hearing about him a few weeks back, suppose to be a very highly thought of physio. Considering over the years how shambolic our injury and fitness levels have been I welcome any additions and improvements!

What's the so-called set-piece guy doing first? He should spend all day today showing Pépé how to kick a corner and Bellerin how to throw a ball. Wasteful.
We defend set-pieces decently, but taking them, wow!

Pepe normally takes a great corner, got a few assists/pre-assists that way last season.

I think he's struggling with whatever we're trying, looks like we're trying to whip it into the keeper area who we crowd with about 4 or 5 players, so it needs to be dropped into a very specific spot in a specific way.

It's what we tried with Fulham. Just lacked height.

It really was a ridiculous call though. Technically he throws the ball downwards and released it too late but it's extremely harsh. You think that throw gets picked up in most games? Of course not.

I’ve actually always thought it was a foul throw the way Bellerin takes those close throw ins.

If they called those there would be multiple foul throws every game. It was ridiculously pedantic.

If they’re going to call those, they should give red cards when Sadio Mané throws an elbow to a player’s neck.
