klaus, i think you're being too narrow-minded about specialist DMs. there's no rule that says they can't be good passers. also, by playing a holding role, they let your fullbacks and wide mids attack more freely. also, bergkamp could never play today without a DM - you hardly see anyone come out in a 4411 anymore.
sometimes you need someone to sit to allow your more technical, attacking players to express themselves withut worrying about their defensive responsibilities.
