Really? IIRC Xhaka hasn't made any apology to anyone re his strop under Emery, or in regards to the incident with Tierney re Alioski = again IMO an attitude of no accountability.

Yeah this, clearly in the club they see something but in the pitch even it comes to demonstrating leadership he has never shown any of the necessary qualities. He's petulant and never accountable for his actions. His performances led to him getting the stick be did the day he had a go at the fans and he's never accepted be contributed to that situation.

Arteta backing him so much was one is the big markers for me on his judgement.

Probably reading too much into how Arteta's post match presser will affect Pépé. There's a whole landscape of interactions between the two that don't occur in that brief time window, and nothing was said about Pépé himself either.

This is where he talked about Pepe, he talks about it from 00:10 to 1:10.

That’s not the full Xhaka commmentary. It goes on. He speaks about it in relation to the Pépé incident when prompted. He’s not happy even here as he says we would’ve won were it not for Xhaka.

To be fair me and goon was talking about his post match interview, not the presser. He was literally livid with Pepe after Leeds "unacceptable". With Xhaka he barely want to talk about it, couldn't wait to avoid it.

And maybe he learned to avoid it. Remember how angry everyone was about the Pépé reaction? We can’t have it both ways. We can’t want him to be more restrained following Pépé but want blood after Xhaka. What do we want from the manager? A killing spree?

It's a good point actually, he may have faced a backlash from the Pepe incident.

Also, the emotions can be very different too. More resigned look on his face last night for sure than after Leeds. Nevertheless, it is not unfair to say that he might have his favourites, or is simply not brave enough when chasing results.

According to that Wheatley article the players were very upset about it.

I really don't mind that we bought Xhaka (or even Mustafi for that matter). It's not like fans weren't excited. He had a good World Cup too. Teams get their signings wrong on many occassions. Liverpool, the darlings of all right now, were investing huge amounts in Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing. The difference between the two clubs is the time taken to move on from these signings. I remember Wenger getting abuse for not starting Xhaka in the first few months of the season he joined. It would have been obvious from Day 1. We have stuck with an incredibly average player for far too long.

I never really got it with Xhaka, seemed like an decent player who had the odd blinder here and there but overall pretty average and as we've learnt comes with some fatal flaws - stinking attitude, foul temprament and a propensity to give the ball away cheaply in dangerous areas.

If he is a leader in the dressing room he certainly doesnt show it on the pitch.

In all honesty should have been offloaded ages ago, our failure to do this is, quite frankly, a mystery.

Tbf the way he hung Pepe out to try is very rare for any manager to do

He was never decent. He has always been a very limited player and a passenger in the team. I didn't like the signing in 2016 and I can't stand him as a player now. The fact that he's been a regular in the team for four years now is disgraceful.
