I do find these attitudes a little odd. It's sometimes as if fans think there is only one party to a contract and they just have to "try really hard" and then they'll get what they want.

Got to rebuild aggressively while morale is intact. Arteta is in good shape at the moment, but he might be floundering by Christmas. I'm relaxed to see Torreira go. He is a decent little player, it's been obvious it hasn't been working out and he's a bit homesick, and the loss on his value is nothing compared to mistakes we make year in, year out.

Probably want to keep him for the Fulham game. Don’t think our new CB’s are ready for that one.

I would take that story with a pinch of salt. Ornstein was the one who 'exclusively revealed' that Holding was close to signing for Newcastle in the first place.

Gabriel, Luiz, Saliba, Mari and Mustafi is more than enough for a back four, add Tierney in too if we play a back three.

Mari is due back this month, Mustafi I think is due back October.

So it’s really only Luiz, Gabriel, Saliba and Tierney right now. Without the midfield signing, it’s tight in the back. Means we are stuck playing back 3 with one spare defender + Kola/Sok who are also on the way out / suboptimal. Holding should stay as long as possible to smooth transition
