Rice never impresses me when he plays. His biggest asset (and it's a good one to be fair) is that he can play virtually every minute of every game.

There's no point looking at teams like West Ham, they're a group of grafters performing well above their level because it's all clicking at the moment. This time last year SU were 4 points clear of us, now they're bottom of the table and getting relegated.

That’s unfair, Goon. I’m sure the good folks at West Ham would say they have a decent project. They’ve held onto good players like Diop and Rice despite links. And they’ve scouted decent players like Soucek, Coufal and Benrahma. Not headline makers, but fit their needs along with Lingard

I'm not having a go a West Ham at all (though talk to most of their fans before this season and they'd tell you how awfully the place is run). I'm just saying they're punching way above their weight right now and there's no tangible reason for it, not the manager nor the team building. At some point, maybe even this season but certainly by next, they'll settle down to be a 8-14th placed side.

Point being, there's no point looking to a side destined to fall down from their current high looking for answers.

I think you, like many Arsenal fans, underestimate how well a lot of this mid-tier clubs are scouting these days. They are showing us up while we take £170m and toss it at a frontline trio that doesn’t work at all as a trio or in pairs. One impressive thing West Ham did was put an end to their Haller nightmare. They took a big hit, but they ended it. That actually shows decisiveness, something that is sorely lacking here.

I think the players people are talking about from West Ham are being a bit overrated. Put most of those players in our system and they'd turn to shit. I mean Lingards their best player and he's looked like dirt for the last 2 years at United. Antonio is a donkey who'd be absolutely slated if he played for us. I think their mids are over rated too. Diop is the only one I'd see doing well in our first XI.

I mean, we have Xhaka/Ceballos/Elneny and Bellerin as compared to their options. Absolute poverty.

Fair enough I misread the earlier post. Tell me though boss since you're happy giving everyone a crack, when Pepe gets himself sent off because he's a moron he's at fault, no argument here. When Pepe plays himself into good form and still gets benched for Willian is that his fault too? Or when Luiz gets himself sent off and still comes back into the fray time and again?

As if Xhaka wouldn't be starting for them, Bellerin too. Ceballos would have a shout too if he was backed by the manager. Elneny I don't think would start for any PL team.

We need a right back but would you really want Vladimir Coufal? I reckon Cedric would look as good in that team with their set up and their morale at the moment.

i don't get the relevance. they sold 10% of the club to make up shortfalls. kroenke as the sole owner could sell off stakes in the club too if he feels short. he chooses not to dilute his investment by getting outside money and he doesn't seem to want to put anymore of his own money in.

Leeds a much braver team then us for sure. In their approach to Liverpool and city games. Just an exciting ambitious approach. Not perfect of course but certainly better then what we do.

Leeds are better than us but I don't think that's how today's game played out. Sterling let them off, City rested their best players following the CL game and Leeds were extremely clinical. I've seen this script before.
