I don’t know about that Claudius. City have played by the rules as they are. They aren’t the only team with funds, and like you’ve mentioned Liverpool did similar without endless bags of cash. Superior coaching and superior player acquisition gives you superior results. I can’t be hating on that. On the flip side Chelsea just lost 5-2 to West Brom. For me you have to tip your hat to the consistency of their play and quality.
Or what would you have the premier league do?
Good goal Mendy.
Liverpool did spend bags of cash. I think we sometimes act like 1 per centers and get caught in our own little Big 6 world. These clubs are spending at a rate very much unlike the rest of the league. There is a group of clubs that every years spends 1/3 to 1/2 what the Big 6 spend (the likes of Villa, Leicester, Everton). And then everyone else spends a 1/4. Over several years this has a devastating cumulative effect. It means your squads are significantly weaker than the squads at the top, and those teams, if well managed, can just bulldoze the other teams.
The answer lies in taxation and redistribution. And if Liverpool and United want to leave to form the Super League, let them.
