I've left out Aubameyang because he's End-of-Life. We just need to extract what we can for the next 2-3 years, but he won't be the foundation of a multi-year title run. He's getting you back into top 4.
This is the part that your matrix doesn't pick up. In that Auba is just grouped like a starter that will be gone. If Giroud was here instead of Auba, he'd be in the exact same group. Nothing in there about Auba potentially being important to us actually getting top 4 and attracting the players needed to win the title.
In that example I left the Aubameyang group open to 2 options - sell or ride out. Read again. I don't think Aubameyang is part of the future Arsenal title winning team. But remember the reason I said you do a matrix is it's like a simultaneous equation. You need to solve for current success and future success. You can't just do one and neglect the other. So you'd keep Aubameyang to guarantee short-term success, but understand that he's not part of the longterm title winning team.
The group I said you must definitely sell are the guys who are not key assets in either time period. Those guys you must definitely get rid of in the next two years. They are not going to help you win now or in the future.
The challenge we face as Arenal is the squad has been badly managed in the past. So I think we need to be quite brutal in the next 2 years to get into a healthy shape. It should look and feel uncomfortable with all the Lacazettes, Sokratis, etc leaving and even some young players we had high hopes for like Guendouzi leaving.
