Agreed about the patience bit, similar-ish to Vardy in that sense. Obviously will take a lot to reach that level but goes to show that not all players develop in the same linear way.

If you all like Watkins, you will like Ivan Toney more. Due for a big money move to a PL club I reckon.

Personally I think folks underestimate just how hard it is to play the centre forward role at a top club in the PL, it's probably the most difficult role on the pitch. In most games you have guys like Auba, Jesus, Werner, Abraham really struggle to get involved. Guys like Watkins and Calvert-Lewin thrive in counter attacking sides, they'd get eaten alive for teams that come up against deep, compact defences.

Auba might struggle to get involved, but he'll score goals up there. Just stick with him until a genuinely world class talent presents themselves, or just move Martinelli up top too. These mid table options will let you down.

Calvert-Lewin is excellent. He’s what Adebayor should’ve been. Look at his metrics on headers. He wins a lot of them. He’s a big strong, lad who is hard to mark and fast. I would happily take him. He’s levels above Nketiah because of his physical attributes

I don't rate DCL as highly as some of you guys here but he's having an incredible game against Spurs. Tearing them apart

He's a very good player, and Ancelotti, who has worked with most of the top strikers of the last 30 years, spotted it right away.

I honestly don’t pay attention to Wverton but those who’ve been watching longer were talking about him last year. So he isn’t really a surprise package.

Looks good and decent stats but I’m not sure he’s physically up to it

He plays like a young Auba, probably quicker acceleration too. Looks kinda too lean so young have a point about physicality.

He's another name that came up in my search from my earlier post re players similar to Haarland.

I really like Tierney but going forward we need better cover at leftback. He spent almost all of last season out injured and now he's struggling again with his knee or his leg or whatever it is; they keep changing the updates. I'm not sure he's ever going to give us 30 league starts a season at this rate.

I think Robin Gosens would be a good signing in the summer. He's a lot like Tierney in theory, good in both ends, but with more goals in him. He could probably be had for a decent fee. Good enough to start for every team in Premier League too. Would be a steal imo.

Gosens could easily bench Tierney. I wouldn't mind him at all but there are probably bigger weaknesses in need of fixing first

I agree, but we lose a whole dimension of our football every time Tierney is out. I think strong competition is a fundamentally good thing and you might occasionally be able to use them at the same time even, depending on the system and opponent.

We could balance that our with a top tier right back too though. That way you benefit from both, but also compensate for the loss on the left when Tierney is out by having someone really good on the right. The problem right now is that both Hector and Cedric are frustrating in the final third.

Not so much for forwards though. Like my midfielders and wide boys nice n lean, and agile with stamina

I think our forwards are more of an issue than our fullbacks. Along with the midfield, they just aren't functional in attack. That Tierney can force Auba to score a goal every now and then is a testament to his attitude and ability, but it's not sustainable no matter if you have prime Dani Alves at RB.

I don’t really worry about he back up left back. We just need to focus on the first 11. Our bigger issue is that we don’t have a starting striker, when Partey is out we have no midfield whatsoever, etc. These are the things that absolutely weaken us. Backup left back is a minor concern.

IMO the Match Day Squad = 18 players as the subs need to be capable to retain performance & capability.
