Patino is so gifted. Just needs to fill out his frame a bit and get stronger. Wish he had that burst of acceleration, would make him more dangerous. Plays in a position that is difficult to find quality, especially in England.

Those highlights have made me take notice. I thought he was lacking the burst but that fluid body movement means he can unbalance opponents with ease.

That will be pretty tough under Arteta. He always preferred to play fringe useless players even in dead rubber Europa games.

It's been a problem forever, even under latter day Wenger. Problem with having a bloated squad and keeping guys like Elneny around.

We should have massively trimmed the squad this summer with the lack of European football. The failure to secure loan deals for players like Balogun is a huge problem too. If we aim to get back into Europe we should have kept our younger loanable players under contract, loaned them out this year and then if we had European football next season they'd be back to supplement the squad.

Completely agree. Huge shame that we could not find a loan move for Balogun.

Absolutely, a loan would do him a world of good. I do wonder though as part of getting him to agree to a new contract we promised him he'd get promoted to the first team squad and not be loaned out?

That's all well and good too but if thats the case you need to honour that properly. Currently we have Auba, Laca, Eddie and Folarin all for 1 strikers position. Thats just mismanagement. If Balogun has that agreement then you have to let Eddie go, and really Laca too.

By many accounts he’s one of the biggest talents to come out of Hale End, bigger talent than Jack according to a former youth team coach. Stories too in pre-season that our plan is to integrate him into the first team this season with a mind to fast track him. With him and Azeez waiting to break through we’re going to have to manage central midfield carefully when it comes to recruitment.

Not the thread for this but it does boggle the mind why we would reject an offer for Elneny then, who is away for a month at the AFCON first and then a free agent next summer. Some of these kids should be getting the minutes he will.

Patino has like four starts for the U23, same as Hutchinson.

Both of them are absolutely massive talents, to me they look like the biggest ones by far from this batch of post-Saka players, but they're not going to contribute against grown men right now.

I agree. And I think there's also a concern that we already have a young team/squad and there has to be a bit of balance to give those young guys a chance.

Yeah I don't think any huge rush to get them in the team, it would be nice if they get a few mins here and there, especially in the league cup, but I'm not overly stressed about Elneny, he'll be gone in 9 months.

I'm more concerned by what we do in midfield next summer given what we've done in central defence, up top and in the full back areas.
