The most inspiring thing about watching our youth yesterday was just how much better technically they were than the Liverpool players. So many of them had that double threat of dribble or pass past a player, and on top of that ability to shoot. Even the left back, Flores was dangerous cutting in, beating men and taking shots. It was like watching Ajax youth, and actually made sense why ESR and Saka look like such total footballers in relation to our more leaden footed seniors.
I’ve always bemoaned our lack of expansive footballers and a large part of it is the footballers. Someone like Flores looks like he has more skill and off the ball movement than any of our senior fullbacks not named Tierney. Kido-Hart and Azeez are actual technicians versus folks like Elneny and co.
They’re all pretty young and probably 2-3 years from making the team, if they do. But the approach is encouraging
