Jermain Defoe is the 8th highest scorer in the history of the Premier League. If you really think there's anything more than maybe a 2% chance of Nketiah becoming Jermain Defoe or that Nketiah becoming Jermain Defoe would be a bad thing, then I really don't even know what to say.
For what it's worth, we've had Jermain Defoe for the past few years and everyone on this forum has consistently said that he's one of the best forwards in the world.
That’s the thing. Defoe has had a career he can be proud of. Eddie will certainly have a career he can be proud of. But look at the top teams. The strikers they have are not just very good. They’re special. They’re faster to the ball. They turn a pass into a shot faster than everyone else, and they do it with greater accuracy. They’re elusive and effective. Lacazette was headed towards a Defoe career before wrecking his trajectory with the Arsenal experience. But nobody will ever look at Lacazette and mistake him for RVP and Aubameyang. As good as he is, there is still a massive gulf between him and those guys. And that’s really the story of premier league footballers. Most of them are good to very good. But then there are a few superhuman guys like you’re Sons, Salahs, van Dijk, Bruno, etc., who just elevate you.
