Even the second time I had objections about spending £60m on a 28yr old.

As for Sanchez, I never liked what I saw of him at Barca. Saw the bad habits he had here without the game changing ability. It's only when I saw comments from others on here and read up more about him and watched him for Chile that I changed my mind.

Which takes me back to my point, I didn't want Willian before, honestly I'm not that keen on him now, but I can see the logic and the benefits it would bring.

We loved Reus and Gotze those days. Football is really unpredictable for players' career trajectories.

Edit: Just looked up Reus record and wow he seriously is still prolific as hell for someone not playing as a main striker despite all the injuries

Have to say even from 5 years ago speedy knows his stuff haha. I am sort of half right with his misses, he did miss tons of tap ins in his first season here too 😉

For sure. Reus, Götze and Wilshere could easily have been some of the best players in a World XI today if their careers had panned out. Injuries, personal issues and club circumstances end up robbing football of just as much world class as its left with.

Something to keep in mind when people talk about future-proofing the team I reckon. Under the best of circumstances one out of three players is not going to work out for one reason or the other, and the uncertainty grows larger the younger they are.

if 100k/w is true then makes a lot more sense. Has a good injury record as well which helps in the latter years.

Wondering if he could also play as our AM. Has decent numbers when playing there.

That's why you probably make a bet on all of Martinelli, Saka and Nelson. Only one of those guys is likely going to pan out. And it might be Nelson even if right now it looks like one of the first 2.

He's had a good development at Dortmund, far from the pure pace merchant he was in his earlier days. He's eerily similar to Walcott in a lot of things - average on the ball, ridiculously fast, very good finisher too. He also started his season at RW and finished it up front and unfortunately he's also not a real striker, he'll get you goals but his game with his back to goal is nonexistent. I'd still take him and throw him on the bench just to spite the fucking Dortmund plastics who were talking about how Arsenal was a stepdown from Dortmund.

Sounds about right. To be fair he was a late bloomer so most assessments were outdated rather than completely off
