Comparing them is foolish, and I am fully of the belief that we need both just as much, but for different reasons. Partey would take our current style to the next level, which we need to be able to do. Aouar allows us to approach games differently, especially the games where we bash our heads against a deep block and get hit by powerful PL forwards on the counter.
Together, they make up 2 parts of a thoroughly modern midfield.
The key to moving to a midfield 3, however, is our CBs. We need them to be able to manage in a two, and Partey in front of them is a big part of that. For that reason alone, Partey just edges it for me in terms of importance. Xhaka-Ceballos-Aouar doesn't really have any more recovery power than we have now, and I'm not sure if Arteta would make that sacrifice. I, personally, don't want him to, so here's hoping he doesn't have to.
