There's a lot of bad blood there for sure, and it wouldn't surprise me if it was a response to Chinese officials calling Sweden "the black hole of Europe" in terms of corona infections, which is nothing but Chinese propaganda lies. Swedish-Chinese state relationships have deteriorated over a bunch of human rights clashes in the past few years, like when China abducted a Swedish citizen and sentenced him to ten years in prison for selling regime-critical books in Hongkong. Last year they also sent people to Stockholm where they attempted to get arrested at hotels and public places to paint an image of Sweden as discriminating against Chinese people. Chinese media just happened to be there to witness the police taking them away!
Like Burnsy says Chinese nationalism is a sad spectacle to witness, but the Swedish health minister really should know better. It's so immature and dangerous to give credence to conspiracy theories. You expected better from officials who pride themselves on a scientific approach.
