What do people make of Eddie so far?
I can't lie, I think he's a great player in the making. I watched him at Leeds where he didn't get much playing time, but it wasn't for a lack of ability. He's excellent technically, which I don't think he has really shown yet because he's trying so hard just to keep up with the tempo of Premier League opponents. You can see it sometimes in his first touch though. It buys him a lot of time on the ball. He's deceptively quick too, probably the fastest player we have after Auba and Martinelli.
His ability to read the game is what stands out on the pitch, but what impresses me most is his attitude. Watching him speak and reading what coaches say about him gives you the impression that he's someone who spends every moment awake thinking about things to improve. He doesn't fuck around. I think that kind of mentality is the main thing that sets top players apart from the rest, and it must have impressed Arteta too.
He seems to still be a bit short physically, but when you have so much cutting edge it buys you time to improve other aspects of your game. He's got 3 goals in 4 starts now and seems to be growing into it. If we keep playing him I think there's a good chance he'll end the season with 10+ goals.
