Sol had everything. Strong, quick, excellent anticipation and reading of the games, great organiser. Hasn't been a PL centre half was good as him since.

Was he the one that looked like a pub player against united? And got Ole the job permantly. I'll always be a fan of his, but i never want him in an arsenal shirt.

Maybe people dont talk about him as much as they should because of all the flashy brilliance in front of him. Like barca defenders recently, even if they have a great game its messi, iniesta xavi ect that are mesmorising to watch and burnt into the brain more. Sol was insanley good though.

I really like Gabriel Margalhães at Lille. French journalists said we made a move for him in January but Lille wanted €30m and we didn't have the money. Reports say he was our first choice before Pablo Mari and we'll move again for him in the summer. I saw a fair bit of him towards the end of last season when I was watching Pépé and he really has a lot going for him: 6'3", very quick, agressive in his marking, agile and quick on the the turn, good left foot, doesn't dive in or do daft things. Hope he really is on the list.

More promising news about him Ricky: https://le10sport.com/football/mercato/exclu-mercato-le-psg-pense-a-gabriel-losc-492287

It's not very promising for us if PSG are in for him.

Tierney being linked with Leicester with reports we are willing to cash in

Tierney, Saka, Kola. 3 into 2 doesn’t go. Unless Saka goes forward

Too early to bail on Tierney. I'd ship Kolasanic (as he's on big wages) and invest that budget into our midfield.

somebody has to want kolasanic on those big wages.

I like Kolasinac and have a lot of time for him.

For me, I hope he's one of the first players out of the door this summer. I like his hustle but his defensive game is not even close to being good enough.

Yup, he drives me mad in the final third too. He's not anywhere near good enough full stop in my view for what I want Arsenal to be.

I like him personally. Got a great touch, has the ability to take the ball in his stride as good as anyone and the timing of his runs are also good. His crosses are hit and miss but he also gets into more crossing positions than anyone else thanks to his strong points.

If he goes he goes, definitely worth cashing in if someone is willing to buy him for decent money.

This summer I want to see something like this

Out: Sokratis, Kolasinac, Elneny, Mkhitaryan, Ceballos loan not renewed,

In: Gabriel, Grealish, Gueye

——————-Leno
Bellerin—Saliba—Gabriel—Saka
————Gueye—Xhaka
—Pepe——Ozil———Grealish
————Aubameyang

I'd like something along the lines of:

-------------------Leno
Bellerin--Saliba----Mari----Saka
-------------------Ndidi
----------Ceballos--Grealish
------Pepe-----Volland---Martinelli

Xhaka has to go. Today reminded us of why.

Agreed with others that Kolasinac is not good enough.

Why did today remind us why?

Our midfield needs more legs and better ball manipulation.

A deep lying playmaker, and DM.

The if we can, an attacking midfielder.

I would see if we could prise Foden from City. Then look at playmaker and DM positions.

As in Kevin Volland, really?

Bit of a hipster pick but he's quick, can finish from anywhere, plays equally well across the front line, and works like a dog. 11 goals and 7 assists this season, excellent crosser, 4 MOTM awards already, think he's underrated. If we're going to spend big in midfield and lose one or both of Laca and Auba, we could do much worse.

Haven't watched him to be honest, but he's turning 28 this year, has never scored more than 14 goals in a league campaign and has scored every 202nd minute this season. If he can finish from anywhere, he isn't shooting enough. If we lose both Laca and Auba and are signing someone with his stats, I think he'd need to be at an age where it's likely that he'll improve upon those numbers.

That would be Eddie, no?

Not sure if Eddie would get similar stats as Volland given a season, but I guess it's possible. My point is more that Volland's stats aren't something I'd like to see for a striker in his best age. I'm aware that there are more things than goals of course, but then he'd have to be Firmino-esque.

Linked with Jonathan David who plays for Gent in the Belgian league. He is a 20 year old Canadian international and plays as a attacking mid/second striker.

I want to Partey like it’s 1999!!

Partey just looks like the kind of player that would enable others. Could play Torreira with him, or someone more dynamic like Ceballos/Douzi.

He's a monster. Literally everything in his locker, stamina for days and his concentration doesn't waver no matter how tired he is

Proper big game player too

partey is the business, but many of us have known that for ages. not sure he'd take a punt at arsenal at 27 years of age

put him as a sitting midfielder and pair him with 2 midfielders that are comfortable on the ball, and profit

Partey is a favourite of mine too, but have to assume we're a tier below his expectations unless we can at least offer him Champions League football.

Investing in players like Partey, Gabriel or Upamecano, Grealish or Sancho is what this club needs if we want to have a seat at the big boys table again

Linked with Jonathan Tah this morning, never seen him play, but the guy is 6 ft 5, so sign him up.

Exclusive: @Arsenal is interested in @jonatah. The defender of @bayer04fussball and @DFB_Team has a release clause of 40 mio Euros @SPORTBILD

Jones say he is raw and has a lot of mistakes in him though IIRC.

That Jonathan David is interesting looking at his stats

Tah has been crud whenever I've seen him for leverkusen. One of those guys that only looks mustard on paper

Interesting.

I want a lot of long term investments all round the team. But if we make champions league, it would be helpful to immediately solidify midfield with a super quality specimen like Partey even if he might have low resale down the line. He allows us to free Xhaka and improve balance, or keep Xhaka at base and still have an a great all round midfielder next to him. Also gives Guendouzi additional time to round out his game if he’s going to be the guy

Yeah he seems to have stagnated or even regressed this season. One reason is certainly that Bosz couldn't coach a defence to save his life but he also has put on way too much muscle for a Footballer last summer and has lost agility because of it. On one hand he has a lot of good traits and would add much needed physicality and last time we got a stagnating player from Leverkusen it has turned out to be the best piece of business of the last couple years, on the other hand for 40m we're taking quite the risk.

We have a lot of good long term investments now so I don't think getting a few players who are a bit more ready made would hurt too much, as long as they're not 29+
