Secondly, I do think Thiago Silva would be better bet than Mustafi, Luiz etc. The issue i have is, I wanted a younger CB to come in and compete with Saliba, with Silva being taking on a mentor role.

With Luiz re-signing, if Silva does come in, I cannot see Arsenal buying another CB on top of that, and for me that would be a mistake.

I think we already have youngish centrebacks to be fair. Chambers and Holding are in their mid-20s, Mari is 27, Saliba is still in his teens. There's Mavropanos too who might still have a career here. It's usually pointless to stock up on defenders too early. It's a position that players mature into and then they last well into their 30s.

Getting Thiago now would really highlight the pointlessness of extending with Luiz though. There's no way we'll need or even use both of them next season.

I guess it is because I don’t see a potential long term starter next to Saliba yet. I wanted us to be really adventurous for Upamecano or Magalhaes.

Resigning Luiz has messed things up. As Silva would have been perfect to come in to mentor a trio like: Saliba, Chambers and a Magalhaes

Instead we still have a highly paid Luiz. Plus to get rid of Sokartis, Mavropanos, Mustafi etc

I don't get it either. We had a chance of getting rid of him and instead we tied him down. The point that is being made by Arteta and others is that Luiz is important to the dressing room, but how important can he be when the team plays like this? 😆

Spurs are after Milinko Savic, if we could sell torreira for 20-25m and miki for £5m and AMN for 15M we really should be trying to get this done.

And he's thr perfect age at 25 for a CM. Added to that is if in four years he wants to leave hed be 29 and we could still get a great fee for him.

Rumours about kane leaving if he does i could see Jose going after a couple of top signings. Kate always looked destined for united. But I reckon he'd fit Chelsea better now.

Apparently he's been great since he left united. I think they had some negative changing room problems like us. Ole has alluded to it. He could have improved since like Zaha.

He’s “improved” which means he’s still full of energy and interesting approach play but about as potent as Laca in attack. You’re looking at a Martial level player without the upside.

This current season is the first he failed to break double figures for each re goals scored and assists since he went to Lyon. However even then he only made 18 appearances in all comps for 14 goals and 2 assists.

If we lose either PEA or Laca we need to find goals.

The link for Depay is from le10sport, so I'm not trusting it that much. He has been great for Lyon & the national team and would be cheap as he is in his last 12 months of his contract. Still, his attitude has always been a problem & that was a big injury...

According to @DiMarzio, Napoli are very close to signing Dominik Szoboszlai. The Italian club are set to activate his €25m release clause.

So this one is gone.

Linked with Az Alkmaar captain and central midfielder, Teun Koopmeiners.

Apparently he has had a very impressive season as AZ were in contention for the league title before the Covid-19 pandemic hit and the subsequent cancellation of the Erdivisie season.

Primarily plays as a deep lying midfielder but has an extremely good goal scoring record (16 in all competitions this season).
