Round up of rumours here includes Tuttosport saying we are interested in Ibrahim Sangare of Toulouse. Tall, leggy defensive midfielder by the look of things. Only 22. Could be interesting. Says he is in the last year of his contract and could be available for 10m Euro.

Mind you there is a report in there that we are looking at a loan for Stephan El Shaaraway.

Also apparently looking at a young French striker called Georginio Rutter.

I wouldn't put too much faith in the last two.

Sangare is a favorite of the Tifo Football guys who do the sensible transfers series on Youtube.

They recommend him in pretty much every video they churn out irrespective of the club.

If we're unable to raise the funds for Partey I'd take Sangare at 10mE. Saw him mentioned a few times last season as under the radar type talent.

Might be greedy, but for only 10€mil I would add Sangare to Aouar and Partey.

That would sort us out for years, and we would not have to touch midfield for the next few windows.

In some tougher games you roll with Partey and Sangare, and shut everything down in the middle.

3 midfield spaces for Sangare, Xhaka, Ceballos, Partey, Aouar (+Willock, etc) doesn’t go. You’d need to sell Xhaka.

Sangare would make alot of sense for the price quoted. Save the money go for him instead of Partey, then use the money to buy a promising forward like Daka or Edouard to replace Laca. We are much better off in terms of quality and squad balance this way.

Even for twice the price I would take him. We'd basically be replacing Torreira with him at no cost.

There is one thing I do not like about Sangare. He is incredibly one-footed. You need your central midfielders to be 2 footed. This is why it matters. When Sangare is in traffic and needs to move the ball past someone, he does all his shifting with his right foot. It means he needs to shift his body to get round players and steady himself for the sprint or the pass. A two footed player might still use his dominant right foot for the eventual pass, but he would use his left foot for the the little dribble to create space for himself and then pass with right. This is how players like Thiago have such incredible progression stats on passes and dribbles. They may be completely right dominant on passes but they maybe use 20-25% of the left on dribbles, giving them better balance and giving them extra split seconds in traffic. If you’re responsible for being the DLP, you need to be more ambidextrous

can’t do much about Xhaka. He’s our Henderson. Certainly should learn from our mistakes in recruiting men like him and ensure we get much more sophisticated central mids. Just watch the class Thiago adds to Liverpool’s side. He’s going to turn those louts into artistes. I hate to see it.

Exactly. It's hypothetical how every player will do in the future, whether it's Thiago or Tonali. Unfortunately the only way I see Thiago flop is if he gets a long-term injury, not that that's so unlikely.

Unless he keep getting injured I think there's no mystery in how he's going to perform.
