I wish we’d sent him away. He’s wasting away here. These boys need to play, stay fit and prove their worth

One thing worth noting is that the team has continued to improve from December to end February despite a massive purge in January. We sold Ozil, Mustafi, Sokratis and loaned out Kolasinac, Willock and Saliba.

Earlier this season, a few of us said this team is too big and the money being spent on this big squad would be much better spent on better players on the starting lineup. I think the January purge is helpful for illustrating the diminishing (and possibly negative) returns to having an excessively large squad. Think about how much money we’ve been wasting. - over £500k/wk on these guys. Over 4 years that’s £100m. That can finance a new superstar starter and salary. Or 2 if you scout really well. This is what eliminating waste yields.

I'd sell all the guys with 1 year left on their deal: Laca, Eddie, Elneny and Chambers.

Absolutely. I'd happily keep Laca or Eddie for another season if their contracts were longer but I see no reason to give them new ones. Cash in and move on. I like Chambers too but he has too many injury issues and is a good age to cash in on. Elneny I just plain want rid of, I hate watching him play football.
