Yeah, we were nowhere near where we wanted to be when he first signed on. We had so much dead weight and players that needed to move on, and they clearly didnt match his vision of where he wanted to take the club. I think he correctly tried to focus on the defense first as we shipped goals by the boatload. Now that we have the defense (and the midfield, pretty much) where we want it, its time to finish off the project and get that 15+ goal striker and top class competition for the wings to really step us up to that last level. We are already practically there, but injuries (and dodgy decisions) derailed our season in the Prem.
I know some are down on him about some of his choices, and some of the players that we didn't sign, but he does not operate in a vacuum, so its also up to the club to get him those players that he thinks will get us to the top. Moreover, i think the club is willing to spend decent money to get those players if we can. (And that is not something we've always had). He is sort of a younger version of Pep but with some differences, AND he understand the club and what we expect because he also played here and captained our team for a couple years. I think he has the right mentality and he has the support of the club AND the players (and the vast majority of the fans).
All that said, he's got about 2 years before that all falls away if we can't win something.
