The overreaction in not accepting criticism is hilarious. I don't see a single post here calling for Arteta to go. It's just constructive criticism and how he needs to turn things around soon.
The signs are not looking good during this bad run but everyone is still backing him to turn things around
I disagree, it's implied, knives are sharpening. People are mentioning points where they think his job may be on the line, raising how much time he's had and comparing him to the chance Emery got is not constructive critisism. Many are now waiting for him to fail rather than waiting for him to turn it around.
Since Arteta took over we've had a run were we went 8 games unbeaten. We've also had a run where we won 6/8 games. We also won 6 on the trot in the FA Cup including wins against Chelsea and City. We also improved our record in big games significantly and have the second best defensive record in the league. We've also had runs where we've drawn 4 on the trot, won 1 in 5 games, struggle to create chances let alone score.
Now ask yourself if these sorts of ups and downs would have been expected in his first 27 league games in charge when he was appointed last xmas? If the answer is no, then I'd say your expectations are way off. If it's yes, then what's all the fuss about?
Of course knives are sharpening, that's not unreasonable at all having 12 points from 27 this season and also losing 2 league games at home against teams we don't normally lose against. I think barring the usual few who didn't even like Arteta in the first place (who also coincidentally shat on Emery from the start), no one else compared him seriously to Emery. And the usual few who overreacts to everything is of course overreacting to criticism or lack of performance, completely normal. I don't see anyone asking him to go or crudely fuck off from the club unlike Emery's last 3 months.
I think for me, it's never about those patches of form you are talking about, but the general performances in totality. I'd argue that till now most fans are backing him and that is really very patient, to hope he gets his starting lineup right and improvement in attack. Arteta have time to turn it around, unless he loses the next 3 or 4 matches with no signs of improvement. Then he will really feel the pressure and his job will be on the line and that is perfectly normal for any manager at a top club. Time is not their friend at a top club.
There's only so much time you can buy with an Fa Cup win, OT win, CC win etc. And thank god he have so much goodwill to fall back on. He will therefore also have far more time compared to the last one to turn things around. He's having it easier due to no fans at the stadium too.
