My biggest concern with Project Arteta, is that if the club relies upon it's sustainable self funding financial model then Arteta may not be able to afford the players he wants or needs, and we'll see more compromise financial based transfer decisions such as the likes of Willian & Co, particularly if we fail to regain top4/UCL this season.
For example Aouar may be the preferred option in our search for creativity, and Szoboszlai may be the more affordable PlanB, but there are also the likes of Coutinho, Isco & Eriksen etc who may be preferred as potential loan options, or even a further loan/cut price Ceballos if we also need to sign a starting level replacement for Lacazette at the same time, let alone another starting CB to partner Gabriel.
Likewise Edouard may be the preferred option at CF with the likes of Daka as PlanB, or even a loan/cut price Jovic, but Dembele may be seen as a more affordable as a free agent in another year when Lacazette's contract expires.
Same applies at CB where Upamechano was the preferred option at the end of last season and we are now being 'linked' to Konate, but there is also the potential 'option' of Boateng as a free agent in the summer.
That is not to suggest that any of the players mentioned are not good enough or may not succeed, just that we are in danger of continuing a culture of compromise and placing a lot of reliance and funds (in the way of wages) in players who may have no re-sale value and are no more than short term stop gaps looking to regain top4 but offer little beyond that immediate goal (such as a title challenge).
